| Cares deeply, charismatic, compassionate, easy to make laugh, fast learner, generous, gentle to children, good-natured, hardworking, highly observant, justice-seeking, playful, protective, sassy, sharp-witted, sweet, warm | Aggressive, calculating, confrontational, doesn't sugarcoat, easily jealous, has abandonment issues, judgemental, manipulative, meddlesome, nosy, plenty of inner demons and refuses to talk about them or to them, poor communicator, quick to anger, self-sacrificing, secretive

Disarming smile. Lunya is friendly and charming, naturally drawing people to her and lowering their guard with her kind demeanor.Mischief and manipulation. She loves a good prank and teasing her friends, and can get quite sassy. She's got a way with words that she can use to dissect your innermost feelings or twist you apart without you realizing it, and she's not above guilt-tripping someone she thinks is being stupid over something important.Seeker of Truth. A little sponge of knowledge, Lunya never got a formal education but loves to read and learn and explore—it's what keeps her adventuring after all this time. She enjoys swapping stories with fellow adventurers and would never turn down an offer to help researchers.Protector of the people. The poor and the sick, the elderly and the children—Lunya will take them all under her wing, knowing what it's like to be taken advantage of at your weakest hours. She's especially protective of children and will go full Mama Bear over kids in trouble or being mistreated by adults. Ryne got this treatment from her ferociously during Shadowbringers.Festival fan. Lunya appreciates a good party, and you'll often find her at local festivals. She can be found off to the side, contentedly drawing passersby and designs based on the current trends. She's not opposed to having a good time and is easily goaded into joining in if you approach her, but by default she prefers people-watching and soaking in the atmosphere.Artisan. Weaving, embroidery, knitting, crocheting—if it involves fabric, Lunya's great at it. She's skilled in other trades as well, but she's a master at clothwork and secretly has a fashion line under a false name.Gilhound. Do you have money? Lunya can tell. She won't ever do a job request for free if paying her is within your means. Coin is very important to her, but she has no tolerance for people who have no intention of using it to protect those with less. She'll often be chided as greedy by her detractors, but the truth is Lunya gives generously and wholeheartedly to places that need it.Fashion forward. Lunya doesn't care about following fashion trends, believing first and foremost in dressing in what makes you feel comfortable while still looking good. While she has her own preferred style, she's also talented in putting together outfits for her friends, taking their lifestyle and personal preferences into account as she works. Friend or foe, Twelve help you if you put together clashing dyes and stand in her presence. She'll either verbally tear into you or give you the worst stink eye you've ever been on the receiving end of in your life.Keeper of the balance. An eye for an eye, a life for a life. Lunya is not above mercy, but should your transgressions be too great she believes justice should be absolute.

The world's a stage. Her own troubles? She doesn't know what you're talking about, and you'll have an awful time trying to pry them out of her. Lunya really doesn't like to show her negative emotions besides anger, and she's something of a perpetual smiler throughout most of the MSQ. You need a keen ability to read the mood to sense what she's really feeling, and even those who are close to her are never 100% certain until post-SHB, where she starts to show her emotions more honestly.Inner beast. The damage childhood trauma has left on Lunya is manifested through a constant anger, one she keeps hidden by those constant smiles of hers. More than anything, she's scared of succumbing to the monster she knows was born from that anger and grief.Violence can be the answer. Lunya's no diplomat, though some might expect her to be since she's so chatty and charismatic. In actuality, she's very aggressive and confrontational, and it can be more than a little grating to people who expect her to play polite.Scapegoat tendencies. Lunya is a self-sacrificing idiot and she'll do anything a thousand times to make sure no one else has to. This puts her at odds with her friends who appreciate her determination to make sure no one gets hurt, but would also really like her to take that ideology and apply it to herself too, godsdamnit. This isn't even just in the "giving up your life for a friend" kind of way—she knew pushing Thancred's buttons about Minfilia would ruin their friendship in Shadowbringers. But if she didn't do it, who else would? Thancred wasn't about to reach some revelation on his own about needing to treat their little Oracle better after five years lost in his own angst.Green's not her colour. She knows it's childish of her, but Lunya's probably the most prone to jealousy of all of her friends. She's never once acted on any of it, but it doesn't stop her from feeling horrible about how she loathed A'dewah Tia's presence back when they were both in love with G'raha. She's also deeply envious and bitter to her friends that are still gentle and soft despite the kind of horrors that left herself broken.Abandonment issues. An awful lot of loved ones have left Lunya behind while she was completely powerless to stop them. Kichirou, Einar, Zaya, Valdis, Moenbryda, Minfilia, Ysayle, Papalymo... She honestly doesn't know what she's going to do if G'raha tries a fourth heroic sacrifice in their lifetime.Good is not soft. To her friends and to those she protects, Lunya is a bastion of kindness and compassion. To her enemies? She is ruthless, pragmatic, and merciless. You do not want to get in this woman's way.

The world should have protected you,
but you have been asked to protect it.
What an honor.What an injustice.

Extroverted / In Between / IntrovertedLunya's used to being surrounded by other people, even when she wasn't necessarily happy about it between the Calamity and A Realm Reborn. Being alone for too long tires her out.Disorganized / In Between / OrganizedHer personal quarters tend to be in some kind of organized chaos. Or at least, she claims it is.Close Minded / In Between / Open MindedShe tends to balk at new opinions at first, but can slowly have her mind changed if you weather away at it.Calm / In Between / AnxiousLunya does a spectacular job of remaining calm in the most perilous of situations, but that doesn't mean she lacks anxiety. Disagreeable / In Between / AgreeableDespite what it might look like, Lunya doesn't like conflict and would much rather get to a conclusion as quick as possible.Cautious / In Between / RecklessHer recklessness is generally offset by a fellow Warrior who's even more reckless than herself.Patient / In Between / ImpatientHas a temper about as short as she is.Outspoken / In Between / ReservedGenerally, if you give her room to call you out, she will do so unhesitantly.Leader / In Between / FollowerDespite being the leader of a Free Company and general spokesperson for the grumpy and shy introverts she tends to be surrounded by, Lunya is much better suited for the role of support rather than leader.

Empathetic / In Between / ApatheticLunya's compassion has always been her strong point, and that won't change anytime soon. She understands keenly what others have suffered through after years and years of going through such things herself.Optimistic / In Between / PessimisticA "realist" is what Lunya would describe herself as. She always hopes for the best, but it's better to expect the worst and to be prepared to make compromises.Traditional / In Between / ModernBalance is necessary, and there's a lot to learn from the past while revolutionizing systems for the ease of the future.Hard-working / In Between / LazyDrives herself to perfection in every way she can.Cultured / In Between / UnculturedThough well-mannered and elegant, she cares about actually being cultured as much as you'd imagine a farmgirl turned street urchin to be.Loyal / In Between / DisloyalShe wouldn't describe herself as so, but she's loyal to her friends and wouldn't throw them away for anything.Faithful / In Between / UnfaithfulIn terms of religion? Lunya's rather devout. In terms of relationships, she couldn't ever imagining betraying a partner's trust.Assertive / Timid / In BetweenTo the point of being aggressive, really.

history

  • A child of the infamous Clan Kalangitan, once feared upon the seas but now retired as farmers, Lunya—back when she was still known as Yeyema—had a rather idyllic childhood but from an early age was burdened with her family's desire to see her make more out of her life than they had on the high seas, though by no means did they mean for her to feel so pressured. It was these expectations that drove her to run away from home after the farmstead was razed to the ground by an arsonist, hoping she could make money to save her family from poverty.

  • Her childish decision led from her living one life in poverty to another in the back alleys of Ul'dah. She was lucky enough to be taken in by some wiser street rats who banded together like their own little family, but after the capture of one of her guardians Lunya herself was taken in by a corrupt pharmacist who used her and her magical ability to experiment on helpless victims.

  • It was thanks to the grace of a passing adventurer that Lunya was freed from her employer and taken into the care of an elderly man who would become like a grandfather to her. The fleeting happiness wasn't to last however and on the night of the Calamity Lunya was nearly trampled to death in the stampede to flee the collapsing city. Her grandfatherly guardian gave his aether and life up to save Lunya's, an act that would haunt her for the rest of her days with a physical reminder of it through her hair and freckles changing colour.

  • In the aftermath of the Calamity, Lunya would spend the next few years building up a new identity in order to become an adventurer. On her 19th nameday she left Ul'dah for the first time in years, her eyes set upon La Noscea, her home...

guiding light

main verse. canon divergent.

Lunya leads «lode», a free company founded by Einar Howl. Multiple Warriors of Light exist, and they've formed an alliance known as «balefire». Haurchefant survives the Vault thanks to Lunya using Astral Stasis. In SHB, Lunya is the lone member of «lode» to venture to the First. She and G'raha Tia get married in the midst of 5.3.

flowrverse

dumb jokey friendgroup verse. canon divergent.

Catch-all term for several types of AUs. Generally diverges from the Calamity, 50% crackfic nonsense and 50% wholehearted self-insertism. Lunya lost her memories with the trauma inflicted on her in the Calamity. She set out to become an adventurer in hopes of unlocking her past, but got a bit more than she bargained for when she encountered her future guildmates in Limsa Lominsa. Also sometimes an isekai, and other times a Ghibli movie. Generally not serious in any capacity.

the sun is also a star

solo-wol verse, canon compliant.

Follows the MSQ. Lunya is the lone Warrior of Light. Without her fellow Warriors to keep her stable, Lunya's mental health slowly worsens over the MSQ. This is the only verse where Lunya continues her training as a Dark Knight past level 50, and she begins Shadowbringers as one. In ancient times, she held the title of Azem, the forgotten fourteenth member of Amaurot's Convocation.

follow me into the dark

adventurer g'raha tia au, canon divergent.

Diverges at the end of the Crystal Tower story. G'raha seals the tower but he doesn't put himself in stasis, instead becoming an adventurer to travel with Lunya. He becomes WoL-adjacent, and eventually wakes the Echo to fight at her side. The story doesn't have a happy ending: with no one in the Tower, the 8th Umbral Calamity arrives with no way to undo it, and they die side by side in the depths of the Ghimlyt Dark.

if i were stronger

scion au.

Diverges from the Calamity. Instead of becoming an adventurer, Lunya is taken to the Isle of Val to be observed by the Students of Baldesion. She leaves after a year, and later becomes a member of the Scions, recruited during ARR because of her Echo, and focuses on her scholarly pursuits. She participates as the Scions' representative in the Crystal Tower expedition, and views the Warrior of Light as a friend. She's a bit more melancholic in this verse, but still has a sharp tongue and a powerful desire to help in whatever way she can.

can you drown at the call of the sea?

non-wol au.

In another life, little Yeyema lived the happy childhood she deserved to. Without her farm burning to the ground, she grew up happy and safe and would eventually become one of the youngest assessors of Mealvaan's Gate. Her interest in arcanima would lead her to become a traveling scholar and a dear friend of Y'mhitra Rhul, though she always wondered if there was more she could be.

i. a star is born

In the 1558th year of the 6th Astral Era, Yeyema Kalangitan was born in La Noscean waters to Toru Kozoru and Lilina Lina aboard their family's ship, the Lady Luck. As the first child to be born to the family after they officially retired from being pirates, she was doted on and adored by the crew and affectionately nicknamed after the very vessel she was born on. It was their dearest hope that little Yeyema would live a happy and fulfilling life. She spent most of her first five years of life between the ship docked in the port of Limsa Lominsa and up in the Mizzenmast, where her parents were temporarily boarding until Merlwyb Bloefiswyn officially became admiral and sanctioned a slice of land to the Lady Luck's crew, turning them into farmers. From there, she experienced a peaceful and idyllic childhood, playing among the orange trees and taking elementary lessons at Mealvaan's Gate twice a week. She was a cheerful, energetic child who got in far too much mischief and loved card tricks and turning her mother's curtains into dresses. It became clear from a young age that she was skilled with numbers and it was with great delight that the Arcanists' Guild welcomed a new and very young member into their ranks to learn arcanima after her grandmother enrolled her for the sake of learning a way to defend herself. But her happy childhood didn't last—their family farm was destroyed, burned to the ground when she was ten years old by Syhrwyda Maetityrbwyn under the orders of a witch. Their lives in shambles overnight and helpless as the family began to fall to pieces, Yeyema begged her mother to let her help. Lilina adamantly refused, not wanting her own children to experience what it was like to be forced to grow up far too early as she had. Unfortunately, Yeyema inherited Lilina's wild, stubborn streak—and the conversation spiralled into a fight that was only stopped with the intervention of her father and grandfather, who also agreed that Yeyema should not be involved in an "adult problem."Unable to be deterred, Yeyema ran away from home in the dead of the night. Her family would see no trace of her again for a decade, no matter how desperately they looked.

ii. twilight over thanalan

In Ul'dah, Yeyema quickly found herself on the streets and forced to steal to survive. Being caught by someone she tried to pickpocket ended with her encountering a boy named Sirius, who would become her protector during those few moons as they scraped whatever coin they could together through rigged magic tricks and pickpocketing tourists. It was also Pearl Lane where Yeyema met Zaya Qestir and Valdis Otoel for the first time, and they forged an alliance to survive together until Zaya became a Noxius. Around the same time, she met the Starsinger siblings, and was one of the few people in the entirety of Ul'dah who wasn't even remotely scared or hostile towards them.Eventually, part of Yeyema's family caught up to her; her father's younger sister, Anghel Kalangitan, came to Ul'dah to earn a fortune as a pharmacist and stumbled on Yeyema by pure coincidence. Her beloved aunt promised to take care of her, bringing her to her little apartment on the outer walls of the city and offering her a chance to make her own coin by helping as her assistant. But Yeyema did not know of her Tita Anghel's vices—the family hid their conflicts from the children, and it blindsided her completely when Anghel betrayed her.Anghel, now going by the name Susuna, was a greedy woman whose family's love and happiness wasn't ever enough for her. She knew Yeyema was an arcane prodigy. She knew their family was still looking for her. Susuna saw Yeyema's vulnerability and took full advantage of it, making her take charge of their finances and blaming her for anything that went wrong. When it came time for Susuna to test her medicines, she rounded up the refugees outside the walls and had Yeyema inflict harm on them with arcanima, and whenever Yeyema hesitated she threatened to withhold paying her. In Susuna's house, they were all trapped—Ul'dah and her gleaming spires couldn't care less for a few missing refugees or an urchin off Pearl Lane.Yeyema was barely twelve. What she needed most in her life was an adult to care for her, and someone who claimed to love her once failed. The experience traumatized her greatly and had a dire effect on her relationship with her magic for many years after. She would have been trapped under Susuna's thumb for a very long time if not for Sirius, who learned the truth and managed to get the attention of a traveller by the name of Einar Howl...

iii. to entrust unto tomorrow

Sirius arranged for Einar to help Yeyema get away from Susuna, and in the process Einar found himself with a new little sister. He took her under his wing, providing food for her with the money earned from his mercenary work when Susuna forgot to feed her, and discreetly began an investigation into Susuna's business. When he found she had caused a mass poisoning in one of the refugee camps in Thanalan, he went to the Brass Blades with a case that couldn't be brushed under the rug and got her arrested for a grocery list of charges, freeing Yeyema once and for all. When Einar was summoned to Louisoix's side in the weeks leading up to the 7th Umbral Calamity, he promised Yeyema he would come back for her within the year to help her and Sirius return to her family, giving her the rest of his funds to tide her over until he came back. But Einar never returned from Carteneau, becoming one of the lost Twelvesblades. In the weeks after he left Ul'dah, Yeyema became a regular at the Quicksand, waiting for news of her brother to come in. She was accompanied by Sirius and a traveling adventurer—an elderly Hyur from Hingashi, who had left home many years ago after his theories about geomancy were mocked, and was a friend of Einar who agreed to look after her. Kichirou was a kindly man who she would come to think of him as another grandfather. He was a person of great elegance and fashion taste, and he introduced Yeyema to the Weavers' Guild, where they gladly accepted her as a new member. It was only by sheer luck that he was still in town the night of the Calamity, his carriage's arrival being delayed by a swarm of monsters out in Thanalan. When the buildings of Ul'dah began to crumble he tried to take the two children and run, but they were too slow and Yeyema was caught in the frantic stampede to get out of the city. Though Kichirou fought against the crowd, by the time he reached Yeyema she had been trampled to death, the last of her aether starting to fizzle out. Out of desperation, Kichirou forced his own aether into her, draining every last drop of his own so she could live. The stress of a rapid disintegration and then the shock of foreign aether flooding into Yeyema's body permanently mutated her hair pure white, as well as the freckles on her cheeks. The night of the Calamity, it was Kichirou Taiketsu who died instead, with no trace that he was even once there. At the same time, Einar, Zaya, and Valdis all wound up at Carteneau one way or another—and that intersection of their stars would wipe their names and faces from Yeyema's memory for the next five years.

iv. meteor

In the wake of the Calamity, there were few people who weren't grieving and desperate to pick up the pieces of their lives, and Yeyema was among the mourners—ashamed to go home, her guardian dead, and a blank slate in the place of three people she knew were important to her, it was no wonder that the young girl was unable to do much than hide in her room for some time. It was Momodi Modi of the Adventurers' Guild who took pity on her and took her in as a ward, under the condition that she did not let her grief take over the rest of her life. Thus, Yeyema enrolled in the Thaumaturges' Guild as a student with her recommendation in order to study and manage the effects Kichirou's aether had on her own. She would also come to function as an apprentice priestess of the Ossuary, taking the patronage of Nymeia as she helped perform funeral rites. As the years went on and she grew more comfortable with her magic again, she began to take odd jobs at the Adventurers' Guild alongside Sirius and a woman named Moonlit Sea, and over time she rose through the ranks of the Weavers' Guild after Redolent Rose invigorated a sense of life back into a still-grieving girl. After spending some time at Ul'dah's various guilds and watching Ul'dah slowly heal its wounds, Yeyema decided she would become an adventurer and help the rest of Eorzea in what little way she could, and perhaps find the people missing from her memory.

v. close to home

At nineteen summers old Yeyema—now going by the name Lunya Lanya, chosen by the girl in honor of her grandfather's mother—said goodbye to Sirius and Momodi and departed back home for Vylbrand, intending to hang around its Adventurers' Guild to watch over her family's farm from a distance and do simple jobs to make coin. Things got a bit out of hand, though, when she encountered Y'shtola Rhul in La Noscea...

i. bringers of arcadia

a realm reborn

Lunya's true journey began in Limsa Lominsa, the city closest to her home and heart. Upon arriving in the port city she registered with the Lominsan Adventurers' Guild, meeting Baderon Tenfingers for the first time in years. Fearing he would alert her parents, who he was good friends with, Lunya did not tell him her original name. Baderon had his suspicions but kept his mouth shut.Knowing she had already done adventurer work with Momodi, Baderon had a special request for her: to accompany an Archon from Sharlayan on her first venture. Thus, Lunya was put in a party with Nyneve Pond and two other adventurers named Majj Mistral and Theodaux Valerian as they delved into Sastasha. She was difficult to work with—years of distancing herself from all in Ul'dah but her mentors and Sirius led to her starting out as brusque and distant, and the immaturity of her party wasn't doing anything to warm her up to them. It was Majj's warmth and persistance that got her to relax around them, and by the time they finished their job Lunya was sad to see them go. Or at least, she would have been if their success hadn't caught the eye of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, who requested the four of them come to their Thanalan headquarters together. Her first moons as a Scion were difficult ones—they had research done into her history and discovered her link to Susuna Suna. With Lunya unwilling to explain her side of the story, there was little amity or trust between the inner circle and herself for a very long time with the sole exceptions of Y'shtola, who recruited her, and Minfilia, who trusted Y'shtola's judgement. After Ifrit, Lunya would begin to warm up to some of her fellow adventurers. It was rough with her stubborn, snappish nature, and she particularly got on the nerves of Hanami Hagane, who was delightfully easy to push the buttons of, but she became noticably more playful with the other adventurer recruits than their Scion colleagues. After the raid on the Waking Sands, Lunya was among the adventurers who sought shelter in Eastern Thanalan. Hiding how shaken she was herself, she provided a steady presence for her openly-horrified companions. It was in Coerthas that Lunya realized she'd become genuinely attached to the others and resolved to relearn the healing magic of her youth, fighting the unfortunate side-effect of resurfacing old traumas. She was trained by A'dewah Tia and Duscha Vesnasch with the assistance of Nymian tomes found by a childhood friend, Alka Zolka, who she reconnected with during her studies. Successfully healing through the confrontation with Garuda bolstered her confidence a bit and allowed her to rally the others for the storming of Castrum Meridanium. As they fled the Praetorium, Lunya's memory of Einar, Zaya, and Valdis finally returned. Her true reunion with Einar and Zaya was especially emotional, and for the first time in years Lunya let herself be weak in front of others.

ii. the seventh dawn

the 7th astral era

Following the defeat of the Ultima Weapon, the Warriors of Light returned to Thanalan to discover dozens of petitioners eager to offer the Scions their aid—though it was obvious to all but their leader herself that to take up any of their offers would be beyond foolish.Lunya was much happier after reuniting with her pseudo-siblings and began to genuinely strengthen her bond with her fellow Warriors. Thanks to Zaya, Thancred and Papalymo would learn the full truth of her situation with Susuna, though Yda continued to keep her distance. Papalymo took it upon himself to teach the Warriors sign language so they and Zaya could communicate.Around the time the Scions began to finish their move to Mor Dhona, an interesting job prospect popped up from the Sons of Saint Coinach. The first to catch wind of the fact was Lunya through a strange visitor she encountered in the Toll, and after confirming its existence she was quick to rope her friends into joining the expedition. It was through gathering aethersand that Lunya would meet the man who would quickly become one of the most important people in her life—G'raha Tia.There was no shortage of work for the new Warriors between putting down primals, helping the displaced Doman refugees settle into Revenant's Toll, guarding Alisaie Leveilleur during her ventures into the Binding Coil, and assisting Alphinaud in forming the Crystal Braves. Lunya spent most of her free time at St. Coinach's Find assisting the scholars with research and a variety of fetch quests, and as she did she and G'raha grew closer. He was a good influence on her (though Hanami was inclined to call him a brat and Reese was quick to engage in heated debates with him whenever they crossed paths) and he inspired her to be more dedicated to her place in Eorzea's history. As their friendship strengthened, their trust naturally did as well, and eventually they became each others' confidants with the troubled sides of their lives: something Lunya was still reluctant to do with «balefire». It was G'raha who inspired Lunya to fully accept and cherish what had brought her to this point and the friends who were waiting for her to trust them.As the first year of the 7th Astral Era progressed, Lunya grew more and more into her truest self—a vivacious, sassy young woman full of life and charm. At the same time she also began to recover much of her memories of her time in Ul'dah, which she had been holding back since the Calamity.

iii. a lingering light

heavensward

In the aftermath of the Bloody Banquet, what remained of the Scions scattered to the winds, and a small fraction of them made it to Camp Dragonhead to seek refuge. Haurchefant was glad to give it.Lunya was separated from the others in the Vault, staying behind to hold off a swarm of priests. She broke through and reached the airship landing in time to see the aftermath of Haurchefant shielding Reese from Ser Zephirin's spear, and as she approached Reese desperately begged her to save him. With the rest of their healers out of mana or still in the depths of the Vaults, as Thordan made his escape Lunya opened the seventh gate and rewrote Haurchefant's fate, tying his mana to hers to drag him back from the brink of death. The spell worked—but it pushed Lunya past her limit, and both she and Haurchefant fell unconscious. While the rest of «balefire» chased down Thordan to the Sea of Clouds, she and Haurchefant were relocated back to the Fortemps Manor where they remained in a deep slumber. Though Lunya stopped him from dying, the spear of light already began to actively eat away his aether and she had to tether him to hers until he stabilized. By the time they awoke, the others were preparing to breach Azys Lla to properly confront Thordan once and for all: and Lunya, despite just waking from weeks in a coma, came along.

iv. take us home

post-heavensward

Following Thordan's defeat, Lunya lent a hand to Ser Aymeric's quest to end the Dragonsong War once and for all. She ventured with the others back to Idyllshire to meet a scholar who could help them find Thancred and Minfilia, and was equally surprised and distressed to learn Krile Baldesion was an old friend of G'raha Tia. Though the memory of him stung, she trusted Krile could bring their lost friends home. While the bulk of work towards peace in Ishgard was watched over by Lumelle de Lipine and Theo, Lunya busied herself out in the field helping Krile between bouts of assisting Leveva—the upheaval of attitude towards dragons and heretics made spreading the teaching of astromancy far less of a problem than it used to be.Familiar with the ways of pirates, Lunya managed most of the talk with the Redbills during The Shadow of Mhach. It was Nyneve who spearheaded the fights through the Void Ark, the Weeping City, and finally Dun Scaith, however, being their resident voidsent expert. At the encouragement of «balefire» and Ranaa Mihgo, Lunya decided to go home for the first time in just over a decade. Before the storming of Baelsar's Wall, Lunya went back to La Noscea and reunited with her family.

v. in violet, in crimson

stormblood

Lunya was reluctant to help with the Ala Mhigan Resistance and Lyse was inclined to agree that she had no place there, though she didn't verbalize it while tensions were running high between herself and many of «balefire»'s members. It was at H'lios' own request that Lunya officially put «lode» forward to help, and during their time in Gyr Abania she did as little as possible to stand out among the crowd of soldiers. Though only the Scions knew of her history with Susuna and Ul'dah's Ala Mhigan refugees, it weighed so heavily on Lunya that she refused to take meals with the Resistance. Following the attack on the Reach and the subsequent decision to send a party to the Far East, Lunya split «lode»'s members, keeping more than half of their number stationed in Gyr Abania.Lunya took quite easily to the sights and sounds of Kugane, having heard stories of it from Kichirou as a child. While inclined to stay behind with Tataru, she dutifully followed the others to the Ruby Sea and beyond. On the Azim Steppe, Lunya firmly rejected assisting Hien's plan for the Naadam after foreseeing conflict between Zaya and Hanami, and instead stayed behind in Reunion with Majj while the other members of «balefire» followed him. She had a lovely time with Zaya's family while her friends were out beating each other up.As the celebrations began over Ala Mhigo's newfound freedom, Lunya remained in the shadows, quietly observing the parties out of the spotlight and wondering if even this was enough to make up for her sins.

vi. mooncaller

post-stormblood

While her guildmates dealt with the aftermath of Zenos' death in Gyr Abania, Lunya returned to Kugane at Krile's request to join the Eureka expedition. It was mostly a solo venture, with some of her friends popping in from time to time. She was available on call for events in the Far East, and was present to see Yotsuyu's story to an end. She took part in the Four Lords story and was briefly summoned back to Aldenard to help with Omega, and Einar recruited her to help with the Return to Ivalice raids.Being so close to the former home of one of her dearest friends reopened the wound in her heart that never really healed. She's significantly more sullen and quiet throughout the 4.x patch cycle. At the Ghimlyt Dark, the Warriors of Light faced down Zenos yae Galvus resurrected—but something was different, and horribly so. Before they could engage in battle however they were Called yet again and at the worst possible moment.

vii. beloved by night

post-stormblood

Lunya arrived in Norvrandt with no shortage of grievances with their mystery caller, the Crystal Exarch, who stirred all sorts of suspicions in her mind that she had no heart to verbalize while her colleagues and friends were in danger. Despite the tension weighing her and the others down, she quickly agreed to help Norvrandt and its people. Seeing the Crystal Tower up close and personal for the first time in years did horrible things to her heart, but she tried to keep her chin up as best as she could.Lunya's relationships with Thancred and Zaya deteriorated over the course of Shadowbringers while watching their failure to treat Minfilia right. She was protective of the girl right out the gate and eventually her frustration with Thancred in particular boiled over after Il Mheg, ending with a fight that left Lunya refusing to talk to him until the events at Nabaath Araeng. It was Lunya's turn to absorb the Light when they scaled Mt. Gulg to fight the final Lightwarden, but things rarely ever went as planned for the Warriors of Light. The Exarch revealed his true plan and his identity, shattering Lunya's heart when he made it clear he was ready to die for her and their worlds.

viii. beacons in the dark

post-shadowbringers

Between settling matters across Norvrandt and assisting when she could with issues on the Source, Lunya still forced time in her busy schedule to spend time with G'raha Tia. No one was particularly eager to separate the couple after everything they went through in Shadowbringers, and Lunya was quick to spirit him along with them as they journeyed to the Grand Cosmos to seek the aid of Beq Lugg.Between Echoes of a Fallen Star and Reflections in Crystal, Lunya and G'raha proposed to each other. Their rings were made by Hanami and Zaya, who knew they were both planning on proposing and conspired together. As the crystal consumed the Exarch once and for all, he and Lunya exchanged vows on top of the Crystal Tower. His final gift to her was a wedding band of pure crystal, gleaming in the fading light above Norvrandt. He took his final resting place watching over the Crystarium evermore, leaving Lunya with his spirit vessel and a broken heart once more.Upon the Scions' successful return to the Source, Lunya didn't stay around for long—before Tataru could even form a proper protest she was bolting out of the Rising Stones, following a familiar path to the Crystal Tower.Reunited properly once and for all, Lunya and Raha turn their eyes to their next adventure...

─✧─── appearance ───✧─

•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧. Body

Lunya is short even by Lalafell standards, standing below three fulms at 2'10". Though she's very active due to her adventurer lifestyle, she still has the rotund, squishy, pear-shaped build expected of her race, and she's significantly chubbier than other Lalafell her age with most of her fat being in her upper arms, stomach, and thighs, and she has a large chest by their standards. Nothing about her indicates she's actually a hardened fighter at a glance: her hands are small and soft and her fingers are stubby and thick.Among Lalafellin women, her face is one considered exceptionally pretty, bolstered by the rare colours of her hair and eyes, but whether or not she's actually attractive will vary depending on if you're asking someone with traditional Lalafellin beauty standards or someone who's lived around the other Spoken races. At a quick glance, Lunya's skin is clear and soft and almost entirely free of marks, but in reality she hides her major blemishes and scars through the use of glamour prisms. Her skin is a warm-toned honey brown, and she rarely wears any makeup except the occasional lipgloss. Her ears are short and the tips are soft and rounded. Her lips are shaped like a cupid's bow, though it'd be hard to notice it if you're towering above her. She also has a small open bite and pointed canines.

•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧. Hair

While she was born with her mother's ebony hair, Lunya's hair is now pure white—the result of a desperate effort to save her from dying. When grown out it falls in large, thick waves, and when cut short it tends to curl around her face. It's soft and she cares for it very seriously, though she rarely styles it into anything fancy herself. If you're G'raha, or someone younger than her, you might be able to convince her to let you braid it for her. As of Shadowbringers, it's grown past her hips.

•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧. Eyes

Lunya has classic Dunesfolk eyes, with a layer of gloss hiding her pupils and giving them a brilliant shine. They're a rich violet, which her mother refers to being like "twilight over the Rhotano." When struck with light at the right angle, they glitter just like real jewels and reflect pink and cyan specks, and in the dark they literally glow, to the surprise of all allies but her Miqo'te friends. They're framed by long eyelashes. Her death glare is known to be legitimately chilling to be subject to, but when she smiles genuinely her eyes scrunch into endearing half-moons.

•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧. Distinguishing Marks

Her hair wasn't the only thing to be bleached by Kichirou's aether being forced into her. A sea of white freckles dot her cheeks and shoulders now too. The ones on her shoulders intensify when she's out in the sun for long periods of time. During Shadowbringers her freckles began to glow because of the Light in her body, along with her hair.

•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧. Body Language

She's a talented, elegant dancer, and this grace of hers makes its way into her regular movements too—which are noted to be unusually graceful for a Lalafell. The image of serenity she gives off is harshly punctuated with her tendency to stare long and silently at people, clearly judging you for every move you make. She tends to stand with her hands behind her back or with a hand on her hip, depending on whether or not she feels the need to wear her mask around you.Lunya tends to fidget a lot, unused to staying idle for too long. You'll catch her playing with her hair or rocking on her heels, and frequently hear huffing, sighing, or humming.

•̩̩͙*˚⁺‧. Voice

It's common for people to describe Lunya sounding "like little bells." Her voice is very pleasant and light with an airy and musical lilt, and she speaks at a sweet and leisurely pace. She's clear and confident in her choice of words, and her genuine laughter is very bubbly and warm. Her tone could best be described as "fresh," like cool water on a hot summer day.It might be hard to place her accent; your first instinct may be "discount Ul’dahn," because as a child she observed how the wealthy of Thanalan spoke and imitated them to further her and Sirius' conwork and never really broke out of the habit. At the same time, she also picked up the casual, brisk way of speaking of the Pearl Lane misfits. Her family spoke with wide variety of accents that ultimately mish-mashed its way into her, and when pushed to the very ceiling of her anger her enunciation gets sloppier and she sounds a lot more like a classic Lominsan. She also has a lovely singing voice!

Style

Highly fashionable and quick to set trends, Lunya can pull off a huge variety of styles. She has her favourites, of course—detached sleeves, dresses with empire silhouettes, sweetheart necklines, gold jewelry, exposed shoulders, halter tops, and floral hair accessories being among them. It's interesting to note that Lunya's taste in fashion doesn't stretch into opulent or gaudy. She prides herself on elegance and function: her famous lavender liberation dress was made to be easy to move in while boosting her magical power. Her jewelry is every bit as important to her outfit as the clothes themselves. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's all unnecessary, though. Each piece is carefully enscribed with enough magic-boosting enchantments for her to easily level a full market ward.

Accessories

  • Aetheryte earring: A crystal earring Lunya wears on her left ear. It pulses with a gentle blue glow. It seems someone is attuned to it as his home point...

  • Engagement ring: A truegold ring set with a star ruby. Though crystal blue in colour, tilting the ring brings out more of the red and violets of the gem. The band is intricately designed to look like two comets connecting at the stone, and the ruby itself is the centerpiece of a miniature sun. The Crystal Exarch commissioned it from Hanami Hagane.

  • Crystal wedding band: Worn with her engagement ring, this wedding ring was a final gift from her husband on the day they were married.

  • Hydrangea Kanzashi: Given to her by the geiko Kotocho, one of her Kugane weaving clients, as a gift of gratitude.

  • Moonstone ring: A belated 25th nameday gift from the Scions after the events of Shadowbringers.

  • Crystal bracelet: A wedding gift from the Starsinger siblings.

SCARS

  1. Ilberd was about thiiiiis close to cutting her head off at the Bloody Banquet. He didn't succeed, obviously, but he cut a huge chunk of Lunya's hair off and gave her this stupid scar on her neck for his efforts. [20 years old]

  2. A gash from Zenos during the raid on Rhalgr's Reach. [23 years old]

  3. A wound she got in the Vault after being separated from balefire. [21 years old]

  4. These scars are from the only time Susuna Suna punished her personally for disobedience. [13 years old]

  5. A bad incident with a crab and some gigantic pincers. She'll get revenge (supper) someday. [19 years old]

  6. She got shot in the thigh three times by a Garlean soldier during the Castrum Centri rescue before Y'shtola and Yda came flying in. [19 years old]

  7. From Nidhogg, but not even from a deliberate scratch with his claws. His dumb horn spikes grazed her on the Steps of Faith. [22 years old]

  8. A remnant from when Kichirou resealed her aether, which grew larger through the strain of absorbing Light on the First. [14 years old, expanded at 25 years old]

  9. Burn scars from when Polaris Orchards was set ablaze and she was trapped in a building. Probably a sore spot for Syhrwyda. [10 years old]

  10. Carved arcane geometries in her thigh, desperately done by herself after being captured by corrupt Brass Blades and having her grimoire taken away at the Bowl of Embers. [19 years old]

  11. This long gash in her leg doesn't have a cool story. There was just a dumb accident while helping the Seven Hundred Seventy Seven at Dhoro Iloh. [24 years old]

  12. Smashed her knee open after falling off Ube while attempting to impress G'raha with some stupid Chocobo-riding trick, because love makes you an idiot. [20 years old]

  13. Tripped on an impressively sharp rock while chasing a chicken. [5 years old]

  14. Explosion shrapnel, maybe, but she couldn't tell you which explosion. [??? years old]

On the Warrior of Light's roots - Polaris Orchards

Polaris Orchards are owned by Bonifacio Kalangitan, former captain of the Lady Luck, a pirate ship now docked permanently in the waters beneath their land. The farm is located on the south-eastern coast of Vylbrand, in an idyllic stretch of land on the cliffsides between Costa del Sol and Red Rooster Stead. Their prime export is La Noscean oranges, though they grow a variety of other fruits including starfruit and mangoes. The climate in that area of La Noscea is tropical, and their summers are hot and winters mild. While the farm focuses on selling fruit, they also grow vegetables and care for livestock for their own use, and several members of the crew are known to enjoy fishing out on a small boat. The farm features a hilltop house overlooking their sprawling fruit orchards, and paths along the cliffside to a sandy beach that reveals tidepools at low tide. Windmills dot the edge of the cliffs, grinding grain and pumping fresh water for the farm. There are small buildings spread across the property, which are the homes of crew members and the occasional barn or chicken coop. In the year 1568 of the 6th Astral Era, the orchards and buildings were razed to the ground, but have been restored to their original state since the advent of the 7th Astral Era.

Lilina Kalangitan Lina née Gabayan

Lunya's mother. 41 years old at the start of ARR, 49 as of EW.A fiesty and headstrong woman with no shortage of regrets but plenty of love to spare. Raised by her grandmother in the Cieladaes as the oldest of six children. She and Toru met as young teenagers and they fell in love through their written correspondance over the years after. She eloped with him on her eighteenth nameday, effectively abandoning her younger siblings. She's firm yet loving to her two children, but no matter how many years pass since the birth of her firstborn she still gets stressed over her ability to be a good mom while remembering how her own parents were never around for her and her own failures to care for her family. She's Lunya's biggest inspiration and hero, though they both know that Lilina is not a perfect mother nor a perfect person.Lunya calls her "Mama".

Toru Kalangitan Kozoru

Lunya's father. 43 years old at the start of ARR, 51 as of EW.A quiet and laidback man who enjoys woodcarving and carpentry. He left his ancestral Nagxian village following the death of his parents at sea, and ended up being adopted by the captain of the pirate ship he smuggled aboard on. As the oldest of Bonifacio's adopted children, Toru is the most mature and protective of his family. While Lilina tries to play the role of a mother with utmost seriousness, Toru is much more relaxed in his approach to parenting, perhaps with the gentle memory of his own parents' love for him. For better or for worse, his desire to see his daughter live a happier and more fulfilled life than both himself and his wife drove her to run away from home.Lunya calls him "Papa".

Taro Kalangitan Paruparo

Lunya's little brother. 12 years old at the start of ARR, 20 as of EW.A distant, grumpy young man. He's much more like his dad in personality: quiet and , but shows signs of Lilina's snappish temper. Taro's still growing up, though, and what lies beneath that demeanour of his is a boy that doesn't really know how to express his true feelings properly.Taro was only a toddler when Lunya ran away from home, but he never forgot her because their family wouldn't let him. While naturally they're not very close, Taro admires Lunya greatly and has even joined the marauder's guild in hopes of becoming as cool as she is, though he's loathe to admit it in a very teenager-way.

On the Warrior of Light's beloved - G'raha Tia

"You are an incorrigible man," she chided as soon as the introduction left his lips, though her eyes were scrunched up with silent laughter. "Interfering with an adventurer's fetch quest? For shame."G'raha is someone essential to Lunya. They first met during the Crystal Tower expedition—G'raha as a representative for the Students of Baldesion, and Lunya as something of a bodyguard for the Sons of Saint Coinach. Their connection was a natural one, sparked by a sudden challenge in the Black Shroud that the ever-competitive Lunya eagerly accepted, and was strengthened by personalities that meshed well: G'raha with his love for history and eccentric whims, and Lunya with her love for exploration and jovial nature. Their friendship was a whirlwind of banter and mischief, and it was quickly that the pair became one joint menace to Saint Coinach's Find. The shore of Lake Silvertear was often filled with noise over childish pranks and loud laughter as they would chase each other down by the water.Though Lunya was only called down to the Find when the expedition team was ready to make a move, she could be found there spending time with G'raha out of her own desire to. Each time she returned from her own adventures she had a new story for him, and he soon became the first to notice whenever she would show up. At first, it was the heroic stories—of fighting Ifrit, besting Gaius van Baelsar, and rescuing the Scions from Castrum Centri. Stories that Lunya had told before and would continue to tell for most of her life, though this was one of the first few times she did it with little reluctance. But as time went on and they grew closer, she began to trust him with the less than heroic side of her tales and the things she couldn't say to the Scions, and in turn G'raha opened up to her on his own inner demons. The mutual understanding they developed in those quiet hours in the night set the stage for deeper feelings to grow, and grow they did.Sharlayan has long been the keeper of history, the observers and the wardens but never the heroes. But as G'raha watched Lunya work, he started to think that it would be nice to have a place on the pages of history beside someone like she, and at one point the two discussed traveling together once the expedition wrapped up. It was around the time their expeditions led them closer to the top of the Crystal Tower that G'raha began to realize that he was starting to like Lunya differently, and he resolved to keep those feelings hidden in order to remain by her side. But it didn't work out like that—in the days the team spent looking for a way to reopen the portal to the World of Darkness, G'raha found himself blurting out an awkward and impulsive confession to Lunya, who had no time to respond when Rammbroes barreled into their tent and announced they had a way into the World of Darkness. They were forced to shelve the discussion that should have followed, and when G'raha followed Lunya through the rift he had a feeling that they might never get to finish what he had so stupidly started—and he was right. The Crystal Tower expedition came to a close when G'raha Tia, now bearing the Royal Eyes of Allag, sealed the tower doors shut. His final words were ones of hope—but to Lunya they were those of a crushed dream. Still, when he told Lunya that her heroism would be the star that he would chart his course by once he woke up, she truly took it to heart. They became a major influence for her taking up astromancy, and they drove her to survive the bloody banquet of Ul'dah and save not just Ishgard but Ala Mhigo and Doma, hoping to become worthy of the legacy he fully believed she would leave behind. All the while, her heart never went astray, and though she knew the odds were next to impossible she always held fast to the hope that they might meet again in that lifetime. That wish would take another five and three hundred years to see realized..."I miss him dearly," she says, and the Exarch wonders if she can hear his heart stammer in grief over what they would have been, or if she can see how he fails to say that he's sorry and that he's still going to be sorry once all of this is over. He wonders if deep down she already knows. "So much that when I think of him my world feels like it's collapsing once more. But it's not up to me - I'm no scholar nor technician. All I can do is bring back stories, and leave more out there for him to wake up to."

Major spoilers for Shadowbringers and the 5.0 patch cycle.

On the Warrior of Light's fated one - G'raha Tia

It's better for them both if they pretend she doesn't know, if he holds back the hand that instinctively reaches out to tuck stray hair behind her ear, if she lies to her heart and tells herself she has no more room for love or epic romances. From the very first Call, Lunya knew who was reaching out to her and the others. How could she not? It'd been years since she last heard his voice but G'raha Tia still haunted her dreams and her nightmares for half a decade. What she didn't know was how he was contacting them or what the purpose of this whole farce was, but she went to the Syrcus Trench anyway, unable to not follow when he called her.Shadowbringers was a tense time for them both. Between the so-called Crystal Exarch's mysteries and Thancred and Zaya's increasing headassery, Lunya slipped back into a lot of her old easily-irritable traits from A Realm Reborn. G'raha, for his part, was just as miserable for having to lie to her face. It would have been for the best if they maintained as much distance as they could, but it was impossible with their roles as the Exarch and a Warrior of Darkness. If anything, they found themselves spending more time together than really necessary, drawn to each other by... what? Fate, maybe? Longing, impulse, heartache? There was something there and everyone could see it, but neither of them dared to say so.But Kholusia and Mt Gulg brought that all to an end. They were almost there, almost past the pretenses that threatened to tear them in two for so long. He practically confessed who he was to her on a cliffside before the perilous trip to stop Vauthry and she almost begged him for answers, but it was neither the time or place and she set off for the mountain with a promise to talk again once this was all over.[]Loving each other had only ever been the most easy and most natural thing in the world. Lunya wished she could take him with her and G'raha wished he could follow. Before Reflections in Crystal the two secretly commissioned Zaya and Hanami for engagement rings without telling the other. Their friends thought this was hilarious and made no effort whatsoever to warn them and even coordinated on the designs. The events leading up to the Seat of Sacrifice were some of the hardest Lunya had ever been through, and in the end it wasn't enough to save G'raha. They exchanged their vows in his final moments with crystal wedding bands, and when the Exarch went to sleep one last time to watch over his legacy, his wife was left to bring home a spirit vessel and her broken, hopeful heart. And now? The future is theirs, and it's theirs together."I'd find you again if you'd let me, over and over and over. In this life and the next and every one thereafter."

On the Warrior of Light's comrades - The Scions of the Seventh Dawn

It was Y'shtola Rhul who recruited Lunya into the Scions' fold, taking a liking to her from their meeting at the Seasong Grotto. Having known her the longest, it's natural for Y'shtola to be so fond of Lunya, and in turn Lunya admires her the most of all the Scions. The two tend to snark at each other like true sisters, and Lunya will never admit it but she feels weirdly comforted by Y'shtola's jokes about being her mom.Lunya despised Alphinaud Leveilleur for the first two years they knew each other, viewing him as just another pompous and arrogant rich kid—which he was. But the betrayal of the Crystal Braves and their flight to Ishgard forced the two to start from scratch, and as Alphinaud grew humble Lunya began to warm up to him, and now you would never guess they used to not get along. She enjoys teasing him still but also gives him the most gentle advice of all the Scions. His sister Alisaie on the other hand made a much more palatable first impression with her headstrong personality and strong sense of justice. Alisaie grew attached to Lunya as they explored the Binding Coils together, and when Alisaie officially joined the Scions Lunya would eventually come to see her as a younger sister—albeit one with a rather troubling but endearing idolization of her. Between the two Leveilleur siblings, Lunya's still closer to Alphinaud than Alisaie, if only because she's been around Alphinaud much longer. After Y'shtola, Minfilia Warde was the only other Scion who trusted Lunya after first meeting her. Lunya always appreciated Minfilia's handling of diplomacy and politics, and Minfilia trusted her as the champion spearheading the Scions' field pursuits. She often apologized for having Lunya do all the dirty work, but Lunya never once thought poorly of her for it, citing that there's more than one kind of battlefield to fight on, and they were both doing their best where they were needed. Lunya never really got a chance to mourn losing Minfilia and it became one of the reasons she grew so fiercely protective of Ryne.

Krile Baldesion

Krile's quickly become one of Lunya's best friends in the few years they've known each other. She impressed Lunya from the get-go with her intelligence and quick dissection of Alphinaud's dignity, and they bonded over sharing the Echo and tormenting their friends.Their friendship would only strengthen during the Eureka expedition as they traversed the aetherially-altered landscape of Krile's former home. Krile spoke longingly about her fellow Students and the days she spent growing up on the Isle of Val, and Lunya always offered her a warm and sympathetic ear. The subject of G'raha Tia was a delicate one for Lunya, but Krile carefully poked at it until Lunya allowed her to talk about him in his youth, and they spent many nights around the campfire laughing at tales of his exploits. Lunya also served as a mediator between Krile and Ejika Tsunjika, to the point that at the Baldesion headquarters they trusted her to make a major decision regarding the fate of Eureka. While Lunya's running around on the First, she's left Krile and Tataru in charge of matters in the Rising Stones. In particular, Krile's little fake Echo vision trick was something the three of them brewed together "in case of emergencies".In her solo-WoL verse, Lunya might have felt something more than friendship for Krile if they hadn't met while she was still mourning Haurchefant and if she didn't know of Krile's connection to G'raha... Krile herself privately thinks that he's an idiot for leaving someone as cute as Lunya behind.

Lunya's never been emotionally close to Thancred Waters—this is something she will not deny. But he's always been her ally and friend, and it was hard for her to watch him change from the man he was when they first met in the Waking Sands so long ago. During «balefire»'s time running around Norvrandt, it was Lunya who most aggressively confronted Thancred over his treatment of Ryne, which eventually spiralled into a full-on fight between them shortly after their time in Il Mheg and then led to Lunya not speaking to him until Malikah's Well. They're on good terms again now, and Lunya's back to teasing him and Zaya Qestir relentlessly. She may not go to him for emotional talks, but she trusts his loyalty implicitly. There's a part of her that regrets how aggressive she was in her anger, though. What if Thancred didn't make it during that battle with Ran'jit? What if her last words to an old friend were cruel ones?Urianger Augurelt has been an enigma to Lunya since forever. She certainly thinks of him as a friend, but it would be impossible for her trust in him to not be strained after he threw Minfilia under the Hydaelyn-shaped bus. She recognizes he only has good intentions, and that's enough for her to keep him around (and she knows that the second time he ruined what trust she had left in him was entirely Raha's fault). He's been doing his best to regain her respect, and she's been humoring his attempts out of affection for Rjoli, who she thinks could do much better in terms of romantic interests but is ultimately happy for anyway.Lunya and Lyse Hext do not get along. When Y'shtola first recruited Lunya into the Scions, their preliminary research on her showed ties to Susuna Suna's abuse of the Ala Mhigan refugees. Lyse, known as Yda back then, assumed the worst, and though the other Scions tried to get her to see reason she greeted Lunya with hostility when she arrived in Vesper Bay. Lunya, having little tolerance for poor attitudes on first meeting and even less tolerance for people making assumptions about her, never cared enough to explain her side of the story, and thus their relationship has only ever been rocky and strictly professional. They started trying to at least remain polite around each other during Stormblood, if only out of respect for Papalymo's wish for them to shut up and get along, and now are something... kind of like friendly rivals?

Ryne Waters

From the very start, Lunya was endeared to Ryne. She always had a soft spot for children, and by bearing the name of her old friend this one instantly earned Lunya's affection. Even so, Lunya was also the staunchest advocate for Ryne figuring out her own identity without Minfilia's shadow over her, coming from her ruined childhood at the hands of a horrible guardian and understanding the exact feeling of having a hair colour thrust upon you. Hanami eventually made it physical, but right out the gate Lunya was vocally livid with how Thancred treated the little Oracle. For a long time, Ryne didn't know what to do with someone fighting so fiercely for her sake on top of all the affection «balefire» insisted on showering her with. Before Ryne was given her new name, Lunya would occasionally call her "Filia"—a rare gift from someone who doesn't normally make nicknames for others. After Shadowbringers Lunya continues to dote on Ryne, furnishing the girl with a wardrobe that'd be envied by any queen and always ready with a comforting word if she needs it. Lunya's more than a little worried about leaving Ryne behind—but all she can do is hope that her future will continue to stay bright. For all intents and purposes, Lunya is Ryne's mother. One of them, anyway, and the only one shorter than the girl.

Ardbert and Lunya are two parts of a whole, literally. Though they first met as enemies, Lunya's time in Norvrandt made quick, steadfast friends out of them, and while Ardbert knew of her full capabilities as a fellow Warrior he still fretted over her whenever she got into situations too dangerous while he was unable to help.Lunya usually lets Cid Garlond jabber about his latest work even if she doesn't quite understand all the science behind it, and as payment Cid has to wear all the ugly sweaters she keeps sending him through mogmail. After the death of Kichirou and news of the Twelvesblades' disappearance at Carteneau, Momodi Modi took Lunya under her wing, and Lunya has come to think of her as a cool aunt who let her hold sharp things. Having known him since she was a small girl and then working under him with a different name, she also feels this way towards Baderon Tenfingers—he's her goddaughter, and he's been a friend of Toru's for years.Lunya and Estinien Wyrmblood are friends, though you wouldn't think so from an initial glance. He tends to be more prickly and combative than she'd appreciate, and she tends to be more intrusive and meddlesome than he cares for, but they have each other's backs 100% and he truly does care about her. Deep down. Just keep looking.Haurchefant Greystone is one of Lunya's dearest friends, and in «balefire»'s verse she saved his life at the Vault. In another life, his interest in her would have been more than just friendly but Lunya's love for Raha spans every world and every lifetime and they never would have been anything more. Regardless of verse, she thinks of him warmly and might affectionately say he's something of a brother to her.Lunya thinks highly of Aymeric de Borel, though she had a fair share of distrust in him when they first met. Once his earnesty and true intentions really began to shine through she warmed up to him quickly, and is especially charmed by both his cooking ability and how Hanami's practically putty in his hands. She tends to rag on him ceaselessly for his fashion choices, though, and Aymeric is thankfully patient enough to find it amusing more than offensive. The two aren't particularly close but it says a lot that Lunya will greet him with a curtsey and a genuine smile.Lunya's relationship with Hien Rijin is less of a proper friendship and more of a chokehold. Their personalities mesh well enough for them to be friends, but his first impression on her left a very bitter taste in Lunya's mouth (especially when she first trusted Yugiri's praise of him) and it's something she'll probably never forgive him for. She strongly disapproved of his plans for the Naadam and the Steppe tribes and was completely incensed when he pitied the coward who bought Yotsuyu. It might only be Hien's promise to her to do better that she keeps him around, and maybe also the issue of him being a prince that she can't exactly punch improvement into.

Lunya has known Alka Zolka since they were both children, having studied together at Mealvaan's Gate. Though they hadn't seen each other in nearly a decade, their surprise reunion in A Realm Reborn was a delight to both of them, and when Lunya returns to La Noscea to treat her brother to lunch at the Bismarck, Alka sometimes joins them.Lalai Lai is a friend of Lunya's she made through the Thaumaturges' Guild despite the heavy discouragement of Prelate Yayake. Zhai'a Nelhah is a friend of both of theirs, though Lalai is reluctant to admit so and Lunya knows for a fact that Zhai'a is starting to think of Lalai as something different than a friendly nuisance, and it's endlessly amusing to watch them try to figure out what.Leveva Byrde is Lunya's astromancy teacher. Though much younger than Lunya, Leveva commands a great deal of respect from her star pupil and the two are comfortable enough with each other that they can share problems they wouldn't normally do with anyone else. The guildmaster of Ul'dah's Weavers' Guild, Redolent Rose, personally taught Lunya. She owes all she knows of weaving and fashion to him and is proud to admit it, but she thinks his disguise skills need a bit more work. Her proficiency in cooking is all thanks to Lyngsath Hyllbornsyn, who allows his favourite pupil to take over the Bismarck's kitchen from time to time so long as she shares her creations with him.Partially thanks to being Einar's little sister and partially due to being Y'shtola's friend, Lunya knows Y'mhitra Rhul quite well. Y'mhitra tends to be more openly friendly than her sister and has offered Lunya a fair amount of advice over the years they've known each other. While Lunya's not too invested in the summoning arts, she still likes to tag behind Einar and Mhitra while they work and tell Lunya more about Allag.

On the Warrior of Light's friends - Of Light, of Darkness

«balefire»

noun
a large fire in the open air; bonfire.
a signal fire; beacon.

«balefire» is an informal alliance between «lode», «audeo», «avant», and adventurers like Reese and Rjoli. Each Warrior of Light is an indomitable force on their own, but united none may stand against their tide. The world is not as big as some think it is, and the distance between two people is not so wide that it's impossible to meet halfway, so it shouldn't be so surprising that the fates and stories of the Warriors are so deeply entwined.Seek us out when trouble comes—may the trails we blaze and the lights we shine guide you, for «balefire» is ever a beacon in the dark.

Hanami Hagane

Though it doesn't look like it at all from an outsiders' perspective, Hanami is the «balefire» member Lunya's most similar to. From dual histories of growing up on a farm and running away from home, and the raw anger that's coursed through their blood for years and years and years—it's hardly a surprise that the two can trust each other so strongly. Lunya adores Hanami, and Hanami tolerates her presence more than most people can say. They weren't always this way, though. When they first met in A Realm Reborn, freshly recruited by the Scions, Hanami was a jerk and Lunya wasn't doing anything to make her kinder between avoiding questions about her past, prying into business that wasn't hers, and flinging Hanami's rudeness right back at her. The early stages of their friendship were difficult, and it would be perfectly fair to expect them to shatter and come to blows under the strain; except they didn't. Maybe it was through Lunya's similarities to Hanami's brother, or Zaya's mediation, or perhaps even the quiet acknowledgement that they were much more alike than they'd dare admit out loud, but they made it to the end of ARR without breaking each other's jaw and came out as true, loyal friends.Lunya especially likes to use Hanami as a mannequin for her designs, eager to dress her friend in something other than solid black once in a while. Hanami, grudgingly (and affectionately, but you'd never hear her admit it), lets her more often than not.

Reese Farouel

Reese was the first member of what would eventually become «balefire» that Lunya met after she left Ul'dah at the start of A Realm Reborn. Being much more confrontational and talkative than the scholar, Lunya tends to take on a role akin to "aggressive guard chihuahua" when it comes to Reese, and in turn Reese babies Lunya much more than anyone else is allowed to. They admire each other a great deal: Reese is much better at reining in her temper than Lunya is and Lunya refuses to back down from anything—theirs is a friendship that encourages growth in each other and shines with a relentless, unconditional love. It's noteworthy that the two are very comfortable with physical touch with each other when neither of them are particularly keen on it to start with, and Lunya tends to verbally harangue Reese far less than she does Zaya and Hanami. The defining moment of their friendship was in the Vault, when Haurchefant Greystone took a fatal blow in Reese's place. At the older Warrior's request, Lunya saved Haurchefant's life by funneling her aether into him much like her guardian Kichirou had done for her years before in the Calamity. The aetherial strain would have been enough to kill Lunya if she'd been any weaker, and the event wracked Reese with guilt for moons after. If given the choice to spare Reese the heartbreak of losing Haurchefant again, though, Lunya knows exactly what she'd do.Lunya won't say it, but sometimes she sees Reese as more of a mother figure than an older sister. In the event of trouble, Reese is the first one Lunya will look for for advice or help, and there are few people Reese is more wililng to confide her troubles in than Lunya.

Rjoli Asaed

In a similar vein to Reese, Rjoli Asaed is allowed to baby Lunya (but only a little bit). His Fae nickname for her is [Ocean Jewel], and its one of the few nicknames Lunya will allow from anyone who isn't related to her. Rjoli is usually the one to shove food in Lunya's hands when she forgets to eat, and they like to monopolize the kitchen of the Rising Stones together.Though Lunya's opinion of Urianger Augurelt has only soured over the years, it's Rjoli's presence and affection for the Archon that has her continuing to allow Urianger in her life. She certainly thinks Rjoli can do better, but if Urianger is who truly makes him happy then she's content to keep her nose out of their business.

Syhrwyda Maetityrbwyn

At its best, Lunya's friendship with Syhrwyda Maetityrbwyn is simple. The two are both daughters of La Noscea and grew up in their family's orange orchards, and both have a childish streak that's pretty unfortunate for the friends who have to rein in their shenanigans. At its worst...It was Syhrwyda who burned down Polaris Orchards all those years ago and set off the events that would lead Lunya to becoming a Warrior of Light, and when the truth finally came out after the Dragonsong War it didn't go over smoothly. Lunya was, naturally, expectedly furious—a wound that never truly closed reopened and salt rubbed within. But at that point she had known Syhrwyda for over three years; they'd fought side by side, eaten food together, cried on each others shoulders, and the hatred in her heart for the person who destroyed her childhood warred with love for her friend and grief for the mutual destruction of their youth. As of Stormblood, Lunya calls her Wyda. There's a sizeable amount of people with the honor of being one of Lunya's best friends, but the one who truly understands her might be Syhrwyda.

Zaya Qestir

Zaya is a special existence to Lunya, and they're a sibling to her in the same way Einar is her brother. They first met over a decade ago, back on Pearl Lane when they were both fighting to survive the streets of Ul'dah. During those days, Zaya was significantly more reckless and naive—but so was Lunya, and they were happy to take little Yeyema under their wing and teach them the ropes of living on Pearl Lane. For a year, free-spirited Zaya cared for her, Valdis, and Sirius, perhaps driven by the memory of their younger siblings. The harshness of the streets tends to forge bonds even steelier than those made on the battlefield and Lunya and Zaya's relationship was one of those kinds. Their friendship was cut short, though, by Zaya being tossed into the Coliseum and Lunya being taken in by Susuna, and though they briefly got to reunite before the Calamity it was a day Lunya would not remember for another five years.Lunya can't claim to always know what Zaya's thinking, but being one of their very first Eorzean friends means she knows why Zaya acts as they do, and it was for this reason especially that she was desperate for them to get their act together in Shadowbringers. It was a horrible time for Lunya mentally, torn between loyalty and understanding of someone she loved as a sibling and being furious over the mistreatment of another child and knowing Zaya was more than capable of being better than this. She tested the limits of her patience with Zaya through their Vrandtic travels and was starting to wear out by the time the party reached the western side of Amh Araeng, and to her immense relief the Zaya she loved finally came through in the end.Today, Zaya is a frequent sparring partner of Lunya's, though Lunya admittedly rarely wins. They like to trade shiny trinkets found over their travels, and Lunya loves to listen to Zaya's music and tease them relentlessly.

If A'dewah Tia harbored any suspicons that Lunya didn't like him during the early years of their... now tentatively titled friendship, he would be right. She may not have shown any outright hostility to him, but she was certainly jealous of him in secret. His gentle nature and affection for Raha were something of a sore spot for her and Zaya's distrust of him until Baelsar's Wall meant Lunya maintained as little contact with him as possible until Stormblood. Since she's happily reunited with Raha in Shadowbringers and A'dewah's come a bit more out of his shell, Lunya can now say she really does consider him a friend—albeit one that she sometimes honestly feels bad about teasing, which isn't very fun. He was one of the guiding forces to making her healing less painful and more...healing.Duscha Vesnasch is something of a mentor-figure to Lunya when it comes to arcanima and healing, and Lunya enjoys using him as a big, fluffy pillow while they read with Rjoli. She's curious about his temporal magic and would adore poking at his brain more often, but she recognizes that Duscha's such an introvert with so many extroverted friends that throwing herself into that mix too often would be stressful for him.Because of their much younger ages, Lunya sees Elwin de Lipine and his sister Lumelle de Lipine as little siblings. She's particularly soft on Elwin for his shared interest in astromancy and his still innocent nature, but with Lumelle she tends to baby her just slightly less because she's much more independent. Do not get her wrong: Lumelle may be just as strong as she is and more than capable of fending for herself, but in Lunya's eyes she is still a chlid who's been failed by the world just as she was, and that means Lunya will protect her at all costs if it comes down to it.Lunya is friends with Haruki Hagane through his sister, Hanami, and the two get along incredibly well while Haruki dresses like a human peacock and Lunya is openly disdainful of his love for metallic blue dyes. It's probably their shared noisy personalities, but it also helps that Haruki's son, Munehise Hagane, is the cutest little dandelion puff in all of Yanxia that Lunya's ever had the pleasure to meet, and she strongly approves of how much of a good influence—and frequently menace—Haruki is for A'dewah.Lunya doesn't know Tehra'ir Naphto as well as she knows Zaya, but if Zaya's happy to call Tehra'ir their best friend then Lunya is happy to call Tehra'ir friend too, especially since they both have a background of being a street urchin at some point or another. She hasn't said so, but if he keeps bringing sweets from his sister Rhela Naphto's shop her affection rating for him can only skyrocket.Lunya spent time with Valdis Otoel on Pearl Lane when they were both young girls, back when Valdis was sickly and Lunya was far more foolish. Despite being the younger of the pair, Lunya often helped with taking care of Valdis when Zaya was occupied with other matters, so she's almost like a big sister to the Viera and knows her habits as well as she knows Zaya's. Since their reunion, the two frequently tend to partner up for the sake of mischief.

«flowr»

Coco Cocoda is Lunya's bestest best friend and other half—within flowrverse, at least. She's very protective of him and will favour him with her cards in battle. That being said, she's also his most relentless teaser. Though they're very close and there's plenty of chemistry there, if you ask just about anyone who knows them they'll tell you that Coco is more than a little smitten with a girl from back home in Sharlayan.Hanabi is a fellow disciple of magic with great style and big explosions. They're as close as sisters, and Lunya loves to cook for her. Whenever Reese isn't around to handle chaos, or worse, Reese is causing it, it's always Hanabi who Lunya will run to next.Vertical Height, Verone Lataille, Vertty, whatever—is a dear friend of Lunya's. Maybe. It's hard to tell what the Elezen's thinking at all, even for Lunya, who prides herself on her sharp insight, so she's not completely sure that the friendship thing is requited.Babycorn and Cherrypit Starsinger are very dear friends of Lunya. She treats them as little siblings and is particularly protective of Cherrypit, possibly to an intensity that rivals his own biological sister.Andres

walkers of the path

Lunya views Illya Skawi as a younger sister. The two girls are similar in many ways, but also starkly different—and Lunya will often talk twice as much to make up for what Illya is too nervous to say. While she's adamant that Illya deserves to be able to stick up for herself, Lunya will frequently just do it for her anyway once she gets the impression that Illya is too uncomfortable to say anything (which is often.)Ninira Nira is a research partner and good friend of Lunya's. The two Lalafellin girls get along very well and Lunya often mails her sweets through Moogle mail. Lunya probably thinks that Nini deserves better than a grumpy dragoon who can't be bothered to write when he disappears on one mission or another, but she knows how in love the two are and will happily hold her tongue while Nini's making heart eyes.Lunya met Laurelis Thyme through Illya and the two get along like a house on fire. Possessing both a cheery demeanour and a vicious sense of fashion, it'd be strange if the two girls didn't get along as well as they do.Nowi Aravos and Lunya's friendship stretches all the way back to before Lunya was called Lunya. They were playmates as children due to the friendship between Baderon and her parents, and had a penchant for finding trouble together when there was none. As adults, they still get into mischief—but their longtime bond also holds a deep sense of trust in each other, and Nowi's a secretkeeper for some of Lunya's deepest thoughts.

«lode»

«lodestar» is a Free Company formed by Einar Howl in the 6th Astral Era, originally sworn to the Immortal Flames. At the dawn of the 7th Astral Era, the company was remade and leadership passed down to Lunya Lanya, and with the new leadership came a change in allegiance to the Maelstrom. By nature of having so many Warriors of Light in its ranks, however, «lode» is technically neutral and not expected to comply to Maelstrom orders.Today, «lode» is comprised of fourteen Warriors of Light and several more adventurers. Their base of operations is an estate in the Lavender Beds, owned personally by Lunya and run by her fleet of retainers in her absence.

Majj Mistral is Lunya's best friend and greatest headache in «lode». Majj's recklessness far surpasses Lunya's own, but her presence is a calming one for him and in turn she depends on him to keep her mood high. Their bond first started to strengthen after the raid on the Waking Sands, when Majj was hysterical about their missing friends and Lunya was the only one who could keep him calm...Nyneve Pond was one of Lunya's first adventuring friends and the leader of their little party that first delved into Sastasha Seagrot together. She's a fountain of knowledge, so that might have eased the shock of an eccentric Sharlayan archon blasting into Lunya's life and forcibly adopting her like a little sister when Lunya did not ask for an older one. In a not-so-distant future, Lunya names her first daughter after her—or at least, that's what Nyneve tells everyone. Lunya will deny it vehemently if you ask her. As much as Lunya snarks at Nyneve, she does genuinely care for her and considers her one of her closest friends.Theodaux Valerian is a little too smothering with Lunya, to her disdain, but that's just part of his nature. It was his idea for her to properly learn how to using healing magic.Bleeding HeartH'lios Tia is the same age as Lunya,When Kotone Kyomei first came to Revenant's Toll, Lunya immediately swept her and her little sister Honoka under her wing. At the time, she was one of the youngest adventurers hanging around Mor Dhona, and she was quite happy to have two new friends younger than her to dote on. Kotone finds Lunya's endless enthusiasm and overbearing personality more than a little intimidating, but also greatly admires her for her strength and kindness. When either of the Naeuri sisters get homesick, Lunya's often immediately at their side with a bowl of oden to cheer them up.Myrrh Mistral may be her best friend's mom, but Lunya doesn't think Myrrh's all that motherly. Rather, she's more like a cool, enabling aunt—one that's even more wishy-washy about her past than Lunya used to be.

Mimi Romantica and Lunya aren't really friends. The Viera joined «lode» at a time when Lunya couldn't concentrate on anything but the Scions getting soulnapped, and Mimi's own apathetic and lazy nature wasn't very helpful in any regard. At any rate, she has Lunya's respect for her keen eye and the fact that she does help if you ask her to.Seven Korven's much chattier than his Viera partner, so Lunya warmed up to him much faster even though she doesn't know him as well. She's still gauging how much she can trust him, but thinks his motorcycle is pretty neat.Einar Howl [★★★★★]: Lunya's adopted brother.Ahnji Mayari [★★★☆☆]Tala Mayari: [★★★☆☆]Lunya admittedly doesn't know a lot about her brother's best friend, Fleuriri Fleuri, but the two are trying to bond. It helps that they're both Lalafell—there's a special kind of solidarity that naturally forms between two people below four feet. Fleuriri's not opposed to fielding Lunya's questions about Nymian history and it's a rare case of something the scholar actually looks forward to.

On the Warrior of Light's retinue - The Moontide Manor

Lunya owns a mansion in the Lavender Beds. Though it was little more than a tiny cottage at first, the reformation of «lode», the successful launch of Lunya's Aurelia Astrolgos fashion line, and Gridania finally fully opening the Lavender Beds for immigration saw the household move to a far grander estate than any of its inhabitants could have imagined. Thanks to its location on the far shore of the Mirror and the wreckage to the Five Hangs between the Central Shroud and the Beds, it's far away enough that the elementals don't throw a hissy fit every two seconds and, thank the Twelve, they can eat meat in peace. Seriously, Mun-Tuy isn't as good as the Gridanians think it is.Though the deed to the land is under Lunya's own name, it functions as a base for her Free Company. The mansion is large enough that even her adventurer friends drop by to spend the night or five when they have nowhere else to go, with over a dozen spare bedrooms on top of the already occupied ones. The first floor of the house is home to a large living area and kitchen, as well as a library. The estate also features a gorgeous garden primarily full of hydrangeas, with a large fountain as the centerpiece. A cute gazebo can be found tucked away in a corner of the yard beneath the wisteria and jacaranda trees.

Sirius Moontide

Lunya's friend from Ul'dah, born Jijirusa. His mother hated him for his resemblance to his father and she abandoned him on Pearl Lane to fend for himself at four summers old. It was only through the mercy of some of the older urchin children that Jijirusa survived—they took him under their wing and protected him, teaching him what he needed to know to survive life in Ul'dah's slums after giving him a new name. When Lunya—still known as Yeyema—arrived in Ul'dah, Sirius helped her escape her first failed pickpocketing attempt, becoming her protector in the process as the two banded together with Zaya Qestir and Valdis Otoel. It was also Sirius who managed to free her from Susuna's employ. When Lunya began to take job requests at the Adventurers' Guild after the Calamity, Sirius initially came along with her—but his fighting days came to an end when a job at Nophica's Well went wrong and he gained a permanent injury to his right leg. Lunya instead hired him as a retainer, and today he operates as the head of her household in the Lavender Beds.Sirius tends to look sullen and snappish, but he's a hard worker and cares deeply for his found family. While there's no denying he's utterly devoted to Lunya, he's not at all soft on her and he actually calls her out on her bullshit more than anyone else is allowed to. The only other person capable of doing this with her without losing a limb for their efforts would be Hanami, who is equally grumpy. Lunya frequently worries about his health, which is why her retinue's expanded so much to ensure he doesn't strain himself with maintaining their house. ...Sirius still does it anyway.Back in their days on the streets of Ul'dah, Sirius was known jokingly as "Menphina's loyal hound" for his wine red eyes and devotion to little Yeyema. The title fell out of use immediately after the Calamity.

Moonlit Sea

An imposing Hellsguard woman who crushes up monsters to supply Lunya's artisanal empire with resources. Moon owes Lunya a great, great debt.

Niols Tia and Linnet Qhael

Lunya saved this uncle-niece duo in the Black Shroud during ARR after they'd been on the run from a Garlean castrum for a year.Niols isn't actually Linnet's uncle by blood relation, but he was a friend of her parents before they died. He's a proud, friendly man who enjoys coffee a little too much and calling anyone younger than him by at least a week "kiddo." He works as the groundskeeper for the mansion. When Lunya met Linnet she was too young to consider Linnet her daughter, but legally the Miqo'te is her ward and Lunya's certainly motherly to her without thinking about it. Linnet's a bubbly girl full of youthful energy and a penchant for getting into trouble with the neighbours.

Puriri Puri

The chef of Lunya's house and the oldest of all the retainers. She's a matronly woman with no shortage of obnoxious nosiness and overbearing smothering. If you ask how old she actually is, she'll either wink at you and say "eternally 17!" or burn a hole through your knee with a glare.Puriri wasn't hired so much as she brute-forced her way into Lunya's household after overhearing concerns about feeding Linnet while Lunya and Sirius were shopping at the Shaded Bower. Lunya holds her in high regard and counts on her for information on all the interpersonal drama in the house that Sirius doesn't report to her.Her floral hairpin is rumoured to be a gift from an old flame.

Elysiane Greystone

A maid of House Fortemps who was assigned to Lunya during Heavensward. Elysiane grew so attached to Lunya she asked Lord Edmont personally to leave House Fortemps and serve as Lunya's retainer, which he graciously agreed to. Due to being an illegitimate child of a noble herself, she was made a playmate of Haurchefant for several years and kept watch over him as teenagers, quietly reporting to Count Fortemps when harassment of the boy went too far. She's a gentle and sweet woman, if not a rather naive one.

Higashi no Kazahana

Kazahana manages Lunya's boutiques outside of the Lavender Beds and is rarely found at the actual estate. She comes from a fallen clan of Hingan samurai and has been working to keep her parents from poverty for some time now. Cold and distant and somewhat of a recluse, but is unparalleled in customer service thanks to her polite, unflappable air.Lunya admittingly doesn't know much about her, but she and Kazahana have a strong respect for each other with Lunya's self-made money and hardworking nature and Kazahana's no-nonsense capability for business. On the rare moments the two are in the Lavender Beds at the same time, you may find them having tea together in a quiet corner of the gardens.

Matin Paulownia

A Viera displaced by the Dalmascan rebellions who found employ in Lunya's house as an assistant gardener to Niols, who's been complaining about his bad back lately. Matin's one of the younger Viera Lunya knows, having seen maybe forty summers at most.

Khannklyng Ahldachtsyn

The keeper of Lunya's expansive library. A kind man.

Veran Milasch

A jumpy and nervous Hrothgar who upkeeps the estate's workshop and the mammets within.

On the Warrior of Light, eclipsed - Susuna Suna

No more than a year had passed on Pearl Lane when Yeyema was approached by a pharmacist named Susuna Suna, who claimed she was working independently from Frondale's Phrontistery for the sake of the Ala Mhigan refugees. She was searching for an assistant among the orphanlings of Pearl Lane, citing sympathy for their plight and a desire to take them off the streets. Rumors were what brought her to Yeyema, Sirius, and Valdis' hideout, having heard of a child with a talent in both math and magicks. Susuna swept in with hardly a word to debate and took Yeyema on as her ward, spiriting her back to her manor and leaving the other two children behind. The job was easy enough to begin with. Yeyema worked as a secretary for Susuna's clinic, managing finances and receiving three hearty meals a day for her work, as well as coin that she had sent to Sirius to hold onto. But it didn't last long—Susuna soon brought her to the cellar of the house, and it was there that Yeyema learned that the woman's claims of altruism were nothing but lies. Rather than helping the poor and the refugees with her medicine, Susuna was kidnapping them and using them as test subjects for her experiments, and there was nothing her victims' companions could do to stop it when the Brass Blades would surely believe the words of a wealthy Ul'dahn over theirs. In the day Yeyema continued her desk job, and at night Susuna would take her to the basement and force her to injure the people she had captured so she could test her concoctions.Susuna's initially pleasant, almost motherly attitude to Yeyema would slip as well. To keep the girl in her grasp, she assured her that no one else would look for her—and why would they? To deliberately harm someone was only something a monster could do.

On the Warrior of Light's guardian - Taiketsu no Kichirou

Before Einar set out on the road to aid Louisoix, he introduced Yeyema to a friend of his: a geomancer from Hingashi named Kichirou.

STRMAGSKLSPDLCKDEFRESCHA
9/1010/1009/1008/1010/100/1001/1010/10

Magically gifted and hiding herculean strength in her tiny form, Lunya is a glass cannon in its truest definition—her strength and speed are high, but she lacks physical defense and her magical resistance leaves a lot to be desired. As such, she hits very hard and very fast, attempting to end fights as quickly as possible without having to draw on the power of the Blessing of Light, which can augment her abilities but isn't something she's pleased about doing thanks to some revelations during Shadowbringers.A pragmatist through and through, Lunya doesn't care about fighting "fair" or playing by rules in all but the most specific instances. If there's any opportunity to seize a win, she'll take it, especially if the lives of others are at risk. Jeer and whine that she's playing dirty if you must, but she's spent too much of her life on both mental and physical battlefields to give anyone a spare chance to kill her. By default in a serious fight, Lunya will go for the kill unless she's specifically ordered not to or there are special circumstances surrounding her opponent (say, the opponent is your mentors' youngest brother who is being possessed by a voidsent and you may just have a way to unpossess him.)

of the entwined stars

Lunya's primary school of magic is Sharlayan astromancy. While she hasn't spent her whole life studying it like proper astrologians tend to, Lunya had adapted and grown quickly within the field, much to the pride of her mentor, Leveva. Her magic is bright and blinding, but despite its overwhelming potency it tastes nostalgic, like a homecoming long overdue and a wish upon falling stars coming true. You'll be hard-pressed to find any other astrologian on Hydaelyn at Lunya's level these days.

panthalassa

Based on her family's own fully-offensive style with the teachings of Limsa Lominsa's marauders meshed in, Lunya's developed her own way of fighting with an axe that isn't based on being meant to take the brunt of the party's damage but instead functions as a blue DPS. Rather than the aesthetic of mountain-breaking and a heart of steel, Lunya's reaver class is based on harsh storms at sea and the angry crash of giant waves against cliffsides. Before Shadowbringers Lunya rarely used her axe, but her bonding with Ardbert loosened her up to the concept and now she's fond of letting loose once in a while.[Lunya is not acquainted with the WAR npcs.]

Lunya studied thaumaturgy as a teenager in Ul'dah after the Calamity left her with mutated aether that she had to relearn, being taken directly under the wing of the new guildmasters while she trained as a priestess for the Ossuary. She turned out to be one of the Thaumaturges' Guild's most effective students—quickly catching the attention of a certain pair of Black Mages. Though Lunya didn't take up the Gem of Shatotto or peer as deeply into the abyss as her would-be new mentors wished she would, she's still as explosive and destructive.

There's a strange soul crystal in her inventory that she doesn't like to use or even think about. What on earth is it for?

sundancer

While taught traditional Southern Sea dances by her mother growing up, she eventually became a disciple of Nashmeira of Troupe Falsiam and quickly learned and mastered the art of Kriegstanz.

the illuminated

Her first ever school of magic and her initial class in A Realm Reborn, adjacent to Alphinaud's Academician. Due to her fascination with and deep understanding of numbers and calculations, Lunya learned the fundamentals of arcanima quickly at a young age. After the raid on the Waking Sands, Lunya was connected with her childhood friend Alka Zolka who she began to research Nymian magicks with. Though she didn't take up a faerie companion, she learned to heal through their studies together. In her youth, trauma rendered her healing extremely painful to be inflicted with, and it would leave a terrible impact on her magic up until Heavensward. Before picking up Nymian healing, her magic was entirely based on destroying the body, jumpstarting tumors and boiling enemies' bodies from the inside-out. Her scholar magic added the fleeting sensation of butterfly scales rolling along the skin as a shield, her healing spells became much more sharp and jolting, and her eyes could compound to increase her accuracy. These days, her carbuncle is more of a pet than anything else, though Lunya can still pack a punch with the uglier, biological-warfare side of her spellkit.

Having spent time in the Pugilists' Guild as a youth and more recently training under Zaya Qestir's guidance, Lunya enjoys sparring hand-to-hand with the other members of «balefire» and even some of the more daring members of the Scions, and she can hold her own against others four times her size. She won't suit up to fight on the battlefield with pugilist arms like her monk friends, but can deliver a fierce beatdown through close combat if cornered. In the event she's forced to defend herself by hand, she aims for vital organs—which she has the advantage of knowing by heart, as her first combat class required knowledge of the best places in the body to Ruin...

Skills and Traits

THE ECHO/BLESSING OF LIGHT: Hydaelyn's gifts are what made her a Warrior of Light, and what protects her from being tempered by the primals. The Echo allows Lunya to connect with the souls of others and understand the intention behind their words, and she can physically manipulate it to an extent, drawing it out and pulsing it from her hand as a shield. It also bolsters her natural ability to see traces of the Lifestream—though she's not able to interact with it in any way. She can "see" the aether of her friends, but not in the literal way Y'shtola does. It's more of a sensory kind of thing and it's good for tracking down where they wander off to. Lunya's ability to manipulate aether into a physical form is also credited to her Echo, though she hasn't realized it yet.GRAVITY SHIFT. Lunya can manipulate the gravity of herself, others, and objects up to the size of approximate size and weight of an average adamantoise. She typically uses this on herself, allowing her to float slightly off the ground and slow her falling speed. Once in a while she'll use this to completely trap something in place, increasing their gravity until it nearly crushes them.HIDDEN STRENGTH: Perhaps the consequence of a family tradition of handing out Hrothgar-sized axes upon an 18th nameday, abnormal strength is the bragging right of Lunya and many of her family members. She's fully capable of carrying her bulkier friends, like Duscha—except it's not really convenient when she wouldn't be able to see over them and they'd be hardly two feet off the ground, so she'll leave the transporting of injured allies to Reese.MATHEMATICS: Lunya's had a clear understanding of numbers from a very young age, and was able to conjure a carbuncle before she was even six. She's capable of solving complex equations and quickly doing math in her head. Her experiences in Ul'dah have deterred her from pursuing any math-related careers, though, and she's not eager to use her skills for anything other than calculating food budgets these days.

KOJIN'S BLESSING: Having spent all of her early life by the sea, Lunya's a very strong swimmer (against sailor traditions of not knowing how to do so, thanks to her mother's insistance). Her time spent in the Ruby Sea has taken this above and beyond. Thanks to Soroban's blessing, Lunya can breathe in water as easily as she can breathe in air, and it's opened the door to a whole new world of underwater fetch quests.SINGING: Lunya is no bard, but her singing voice is gorgeous. She knows a lot of sea shanties and a couple of Thavnairian lullabies, but the shanties are really only fun to sing if you have at least five other friends who know them too. Emphasis on her not being a bard, however: really, don't ask her to play any instruments.ARTISTIC ABILITIES: She's not a natural like Alphinaud, of course, but Lunya's good at drawing. It comes from years of practice, and she carries a sketchbook around full to the brim with portraits of people she's met to watercolour paintings of vistas she's seen and ideas for clothing designs. She can't draw animals as well as she wishes she could, though.FORCEFUL CHARISMA: Lunya' s a shrewd, calculating woman by nature. It lends to her being incredible with debates and political discussions, except one thing: she hates it. She doesn't want any part with the back and forth of people in gilded courts. That's what she depended on Minfilia and Alphinaud for. She can and will (reluctantly) bust out her sharp negotiating skills in the event that literally no one else in her group is able to.

WEAVING: This is Lunya's main and by far best trade skill. Her sense of style and knowledge of clothcraft are unparalleled by all but her own mentor, Redolent Rose, and she operates a high-end fashion empire under the pseudonym Aurelia Astrologos. Under her own name she has the boutique Atelier Lunya, which sells fashionable yet practical and affordable clothes for adventurers. She currently has three branches in the Lavender Beds, the Goblet, and Shirogane, each overseen by her retainer Kazahana. Lunya also takes commissions through the Weavers' Guild and has quite a long waitlist, but she's willing to slip in a friend near the top. In her spare time she likes to make little things for her friends—a scarf for Raha or a coat for Zaya, new hair ribbons for Ryne or a custom dress for a certain Au Ri warrior going to an Ishgardian ball...COOKING: Lunya's an exemplar culinarian, hailing from Eorzea's culinary capital and being personally taught by Chef Lyngsath Hyllbornsyn himself after she'd already spent time helping her family in the kitchen when she was younger. She's also talented at baking, having fond memories of making cookies with her Auntie Iris as a little girl. While technically an employee of the Bismarck via being part of the Culinarians' Guild, Lunya rarely ever takes shifts there, prefering to use her skills to feed her friends.GOLDSMITHING: She's not about to make things like intricate pocketwatches or orchestrions and what-have-you, but Lunya's work in the fashion industry demands knowledge of jewelry and metal detailing. Most of the time she hands her bigger designs off to Zaya and Hanami, but she can hold her own on tiny details like a hundred dozen or so tiny jeweled flowers on the train of a wedding dress.

CARPENTRY: A hobby she picked up from her dad. She mostly likes making little things like intricately carved jewelry boxes or tiny whittled animals. Consistently crafting full-sized furniture is a bit troubling with her small stature, and Lalafell living in areas with other Spoken races see little point in buying chairs built just for them when they could have one that's big enough for any possible guest, so she usually just makes things for herself.BOTANY: It's been many years since her humble beginnings as the daughter of farmers, but Lunya still knows plants quite well and has some respectable gardens at her Lavender Beds estate. She often runs odd jobs for the other Eorzean guilds as a botanist, gathering tannin from trees for Atelier Fen-Yll or procurring bulk ingredients for the Bismarck in an emergency.FISHING: Of course. It'd be weird for someone who grew up right next to the sea to have no knowledge of fishing whatsoever. Lunya doesn't fish for money, though. It's entirely for relaxation or for food. She really enjoys the thrill of hauling in a fish thrice her size.SMITHING: Lunya doesn't wear much armor, so she's not as enthusiastic about the forge as some of her other friends might be. She learned the art mostly because she could, and she's good enough that she can do some simple commissions through the guild, but she doesn't really want to. Blacksmithing, at least, comes in use when maintaining her axe.ALCHEMY: Lunya knows alchemy mostly for the sake of upkeeping her grimoire. When it comes to concocting alkahests and the like for adventurer gear, she buys them from friends who are better at it than she is to ensure they're of the highest quality. While it's easy to argue that potion-making is an art necessary for medics like Lunya to learn, the very scent of some of the most basic ingredients like seedkin vines stir up traumatic memories for her.

weaknesses

AETHERIAL SENSITIVITY: When Kichirou saved her during the Calamity, it was at the cost of his own life—but he failed to restore Lunya's aether properly, so she unconsciously saps it from around her. If she lets it build up for too long she gets intense aether sickness, and Y'shtola has speculated that this trait of hers could kill her. As such, she has to sap some of it out into a physical form (usually a weapon) once in a while for the sake of her health.POOR DEFENSE: It's hard for Lunya to take too many hits. Being so small means she can avoid attacks easier, but anything that does hit is likely to hurt a bigger area than her taller friends. She augments her defense through the Blessing of Light and by channeling her own magic across her body, but too much makes her lightheaded, which is why she's such a glass cannon—the less aether she needs to blanket herself in, the better. Her magical resistance isn't all that hot either, since she's an aetherial sponge and tends to get hit with negative effects harder and longer than her party members.TEACHING: Want a mentor? Don't look here. Lunya's no good at explaining things (or so she claims, but really she just doesn't have the patience) and you'll probably just get a headache instead trying to work out what she means by "just do it how I do it". Her forceful, nitpicking nature can reduce even her closest friends to baffled tears. By her own many mentors this is seen as her biggest fault, because it means their star student will pretty much never be able to pass on her own wisdom. ...She gets better as she gets older, promise.MINING: For the last time, Lunya isn't a dwarf, she's a Lalafell. She doesn't have the natural affinity with rocks and dirt and what-have-you that her race's First counterparts seem to and she's had to work her butt off to learn the differences between tin and iron ore. It's a necessary evil when you work with jewelry, but one she does very grudgingly.CLAUSTROPHOBIC: You might think that Lunya's compact size makes her perfect for squeezing into small places her party members can't go, but you couldn't be more wrong. She's used to open fields and rooms built for the largest of the Spoken races, and tight spaces make her intensely anxious. There's something about caves and deep tunnels that unnerve her, which is unfortunate when half the places she's expected to delve into as an adventurer are... in caves...

RANIDAPHOBIC: Lunya's terrified of frogs and toads to the point where she's fainted after being handed a tree frog by Reese before. It's one of the few surefire ways to get her to cry or throw up, or even both. You might wonder if there's a specific reason why she's so scared of them, but if there's an answer Lunya's not eager to tell it. She's hardly a fan of snakes and spiders either, but her biggest fear above all is definitely frogs. Making her stay near one when she's obviously scared will earn you her permanent ire.AVERAGE EDUCATION LEVEL: She doesn't have the prestegious academic background most of the Scions, including her own husband, come from. Most of her family is illiterate with the rare exceptions of her mother and Tito Felipe, and while she got a basic education at Mealvaan's Gate and a prime understanding of numbers she fumbles with things more complicated than a tourist pamphlet some days. Make no mistake: she's highly intelligent, learns really fast, and likes books. Written words just tend to throw her for a loop, and she much prefers to learn new information directly from the mouths of scholars if it's something time-sensitive.MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS: It's not that Lunya hasn't tried to learn any instruments. Her family's got an eclectic mix of musicians—guitars, concertinas, fiddles, fifes, mandolins, drums—but Lunya herself struggles to play anything more complicated than a tambourine. It doesn't help that she doesn't really have the time to practice these days. At the very least, she can contribute with her voice around campfires, and she has a very good sense of rhythm.LOW COLD TOLERANCE: Ishgard was HARROWING. Her history can be split in two, with one half being spent entirely in a tropical region and the other in a desert. She does get adjusted to it over the course of Heavensward, but it's hard to get her to go out in the snow willingly.

✰ bonus

- While passing through dungeon areas with a view of the sky, Lunya will comment on the constellations if it's nighttime. In Norvrandt, she will point out the sky is the same both on the First and the Source.- If encountering frog mobs or bosses, Lunya will initially not heal - she will slip into /tremble instead and will have a text bubble that reads "Aghuguhgubluh!" or "Nooooooooo!" until someone takes damage, after which she will return to her normal AI behavior.- In certain dungeons, Lunya might get distracted by the scenery and comment on how she'd like to make clothes inspired by it. She will also occasionally run ahead to treasure chests she sees within 15 yalms, even if that means pulling mobs before the tank does or even outright ignoring the party engaging another pack of mobs.- She will idle into /hum or after 25 seconds of inactivity, and after 25 more seconds she will start pulling cards from her starglobe and sift through them. Occasionally, Lunya will start banter where she reads horoscopes for each of the party members, which will get increasingly silly if NPC ally Ryne is in the party. In the last thirty seconds before the player gets kicked for being AFK for ten minutes, Lunya will sit down and start to knit a scarf.- There is a 5% chance after you successfully beat the dungeon that you will leave the instance with a random piece of HQ glamour gear in your inventory, and a 3% chance you will leave the instance with an extra 1 million gil.- Bringing Lunya to any dungeon gives a chance of adding one of three mammet versions of herself to the final boss's loot table. The appearance rate of these mammets is the same as the dungeon's unique minion.

✰ Personal Skills

BESEIGE
- A spell that deals unaspected damage with a potency of 350 to target. [Fall Malefic] has a 20% chance of activating the buff Beseiged, which allows the casting of this spell.
ORBITAL RESONANCE
- A spell that deals unaspected damage with a potency of 50 to target and all enemies nearby it. "Crushing proximity of seven theoretical moons is causing damage over time."

✰ LIMIT BREAK

PILLARS OF CREATION
- Personal AST LB3. Restores 100% HP and MP of all nearby party members. Revives any KO'd allies and gives them the [Spinner's Favor] buff, increasing their attack and defense by 50% for 60s. Lunya will only use this when only she and one other party member are still alive.
ASTRAL STASIS
- Standard AST LB3. Restores 100% HP and MP of all nearby party members. Revives any KO'd allies. Lunya used this once in the Vault, drawing entirely on her own aether to revive Haurchefant. With Pillars of Creation, she borrows the mana of her party members, so Astral Stasis hasn't been used since.

STELLAR COLLISION
- A 300 potency OGCD AOE skill with a cooldown of 60 seconds. This skill is only available in post-Shadowbringers dungeons. Lunya forms an aetherial axe and strikes all enemies in a cone with a 5 yalm radius in front of her.
SUPERNOVA
- A 700 potency OGCD AOE spell with a cooldown of 180s. Lunya forms an aetherial rod in her hand and casts a destructive burst of black magic in a 5y circle. The cast time is four seconds, and she will not interrupt the cast for any mechanics or to heal.

STARFALL
- Personal AST LB3. Only used when all DPS allies are KO'd and the boss is below 5% health. It's a variation of Dancer's Crimson Lotus LB3, with a visual change in the red flowers appearing as star clusters (like the ones that appear with Benefic) and the slash effects becoming little gold shooting stars.

✰ AI Behavior

Lunya's a very efficient healer—the exact kind that gives tanks heart attacks. Her first priority is keeping everyone alive, but only to a certain extent. She will not heal so long as party members are about 80% health, and when healing a party member below that threshold she will stop healing them once they're above it, even if they're not at full health. She will permanently be in Diurnal Sect.If anyone has taken damage by the time she finishes her opener, she will heal them with Essential Dignity if they're below 50% health, Benefic II if they are around 65%, Aspected Benefic if they are at 80%, and Helios if more than two party members are hurt, but otherwise will continue attacking with Malefic IV or Gravity if there are 2+ enemies. Beyond refreshing Combust when it's about to fall off and following the same heal rules as the end of her opener, her skill usage is as follows:- Every thirty seconds she will Draw and Play a card, which will innately give a 4% damage boost to whoever receives it for 15 seconds. She will prioritize giving her cards to the player unless G'raha Tia is in the party as a DPS, in which case she will prioritize him.- Every 60 seconds she will place down another Earthly Star and let it auto-detonate.- Every 90 seconds she will activate Lightspeed and receive a personal 3% DPS boost while halving her cast times for all spells for 15 seconds.- Every 120 seconds she will use Divination, giving all party members a 6% damage buff for 15 secondsLunya noticeably takes more risks than other healer NPCs, willing to gamble her survival on getting her casts out while standing in AOEs. She will always heal herself before healing allies so long as they are over 50% health. She will also use En Avant to close the gap between her and the main tank in the event they get separated by more than 15 yalms.Lunya is meant to make up for her lower healing threshold in high personal DPS and party buffs - meaning if the party is doing enough damage fast enough (specifically the player bringing her), she shouldn't need to heal as much.

ABYSSAL DEPTHS
- Conjures an aetherial direwolf, the manifestation of Lunya's inner beast, to fight alongside her. Its form is unstable and watery in appearance, rippling constantly with pitch black waves for fur and piercing water crystal eyes. Its paws seem to sink into its own shadows on the floor. When summoned it releases a bone-chilling wail, like an agonized, discordant chorus of crying children—but once its timer ends, it silently slips back into Lunya's shadow with a strange sense of gentleness.

✰ AI Behavior

Lunya begins a dungeon with [Defiance] on, and when the player approaches a pack of mobs she'll begin to pull. She initially pulls three packs consecutively if possible. If the healer fails to keep up, she will pull only one pack at a time for the rest of the dungeon unless the player adds more to the pull for her.She pops her cooldowns from strongest to weakest, cycling through them during a trash pull.

✰ AI Behavior

Lunya assigns a DPS as her Dance Partner at the beginning of an instance. Her priority is as follows: NPC ally G'raha Tia if he is also a DPS, the player if they are a DPS, melee, caster, and ranged. If there's more than one of each role she will simply pick the first one in order on the party list.Being a ranged DPS, she doesn't drop her uptime for mechanics and will continue to attack while moving out of the way.

Trivia

Hobbies. Collecting crystals, card games, journaling, drawing, gardening, people watching, embroidery, knitting.Favourite foods. Oranges, seafood stew, paella, dark pretzels, flan. Born and raised by the sea, Lunya loves seafood of all kinds—though she by far prefers crabs. She especially favors dishes that boil down to "take what we have and throw it in a pot" that are also heartily spiced, and she's something of a foodie, eager to try dishes from around the world. Salted fish is a comfort food for her. She has a bit of a sweet tooth and often carries around pouches of dried fruits and candies. Her favourite desserts by far, though, are custard-based treats like caramel pudding and yema.Despised foods. Bananas, jellied foods, raw tomatoes, eggplants. She wouldn't say she hates it but it's hard for her to stomach cornbread after very politely eating 30 loaves of it in one go once because Babycorn and Cherrypit asked her to. ...She still does it when they ask her to now though.Fears. Frogs, falling stones, poverty, losing control, losing more loved ones, huge crowds, being stepped on, being left behind.Etymology. Lunya combines “luna” (moon) and “nya” (the japanese onomatopoeia for a cat’s meow), and her name works as homage to her Plainsfolk dad by using the male Plainsfolk naming scheme AB CB. It's a name she took from her great-grandma.Lanya is a nonsense surname meant to rhyme with Lunya, but if you want you can pretend it’s from the Mexican slang lana meaning money/wool. Lana also supposedly also means something like afloat in Hawaiian, but I haven’t actually seen any Hawaiian sources say that so take that with a grain of salt. It would tie in with her being an Astrologian and having Gravity, though. Her birth name, Yeyema, is from a Filipino candy, and follows the traditional Dunesfolk female naming pattern - AAB. In lore, she’s named for her paternal grandmother, Cheyeye. Her family name is Kalangitan, taken from Dayang Kalangitan, the only queen regent of Tondo, one of the oldest documented settlements in the Philippines. Langit means sky/heaven.

Residences

Moontide Manor. Lunya's house-slash-free-company-hall. Though you might expect otherwise, her bedroom is the same size as all the other ones. She does have an extra one across the hall that functions as a vault for all the weird stuff she's picked up while adventuring, though.Apartments. She owns tiny parcels of land in the market districts of the Goblet and Shirogane, which two branches of her boutique are located at. While they're not zoned as living spaces, Lunya keeps a bedroll in her workshop at each one. It doesn't mean she actually sleeps on it, though: if she's at her shop she's probably working on a commission overnight. The Pendants. Lunya's personal suite in the Crystarium. While nearly identical to the rooms alloted to the other members of «balefire» she came with to the First, it was... somehow different. It kind of felt like there were more orange trees and flowers on the balcony in her room than everyone else's. A certain revelation towards the end of Shadowbringers made it obvious why.The Quicksand. There's a room in the Quicksand reserved exclusively for Lunya and has been ever since the Calamity. It's one of the smaller rooms close to the kitchens, across the hall from Momodi Modi's, and sparsely furnished besides numerous thaumaturgy tomes. The Rising Stones. Lunya and Nyneve share a teensy room tucked away on the upper levels of the Rising Stones. The one thing she allowed herself and Nyneve to splurge on were quality mattresses, and besides that the room's pretty threadbare. There's a common area down the hall that connects to the rest of «lode»'s rooms and a rooftop garden, which are better furnished and where they spend most of their time.Fortemps Manor. While Count Edmont gave her this room when she and the others first came to Ishgard, sometimes when they were too tired to climb up to the Pillars everyone would simply crash in a room at Cloud Nine. At his insistence, she's started to make the effort to drop by at least once every other moon and stay overnight.Others. Her parents maintained her old bedroom at the farmhouse while she was gone, and she stays there when she's visiting La Noscea. She also can sometimes be found crashing on «audeo»'s couch in the Mist—on top of one or three of its already napping members, because their tiny house was absolutely not built for that many people.

Ruruby

Carbuncle. Lunya's aetherial summon and first friend. While built on the same Emerald Carbuncle equation the Arcanists' Guild hands out to all rookies (and with even more child-safety locks, because Lunya was only five when she first figured out how to summon Ruruby), Lunya's since expanded Ruruby's geometries to give her a unique personality, a warm and fluffy body, and the ability to become large enough to ride on if Lunya wishes thanks to some expert gemsmiths.Ruruby doesn't often see combat these days as Lunya doesn't usually take her grimoire everywhere now, but the shapes that make Ruruby lethal are still very much in there. Ruruby's been coded to be highly curious and playful—really, she's just an aetherial dog.

Gyosei

Namazu. A Namazu Lunya found as a baby in the Valley of the Fallen Rainbow, wandering on its lonesome. Though she was strongy discouraged by Hien to not adopt the likely feral catfish child, Lunya did it anyway. Gyosei now lives at Lunya's estate and spends her days idling in the yard's koi pond. She hasn't learned to talk yet, but is probably bound to scare the wits out of Lunya's retainers once she does. Gyosei is... arguably Lunya's daughter, but that's a fact that kind of baffles just about anyone you tell it to.

Buko, Pandan, Yuca, Pina, Chewy

Shiba. Lunya might have scammed Buko's original owner out of ownership of this so-called "mameshiba." He's pudgy and stupid and likes sweet potatoes very, very much, and insists on sleeping on top of peoples' feet at night and wailing when they move him.Bullpup. A docile bulldog Lunya rescued from Baelsar's Wall. He's wrinkly and very gentle with the neighbourhood children, and likes to take inconveniently-placed naps on the stairs. You can hear him across the house because of how heavily he breathes.Gestahl shih tzu (...maybe?). An affectionate and happy litlte lady who lets Lunya dress her up in ridiculous hats. Has a very squeaky bark and refuses to sleep on her bed unless someone fluffs it up for her first. Very much spoiled. Likes to sit on a chair at the dinner table with everyone else.Wolf pup Toy terrier(?). This is definitely not a wolf cub. ...Hm? Are all of Lunya's dogs named after food? No, no, what are you talking about? This feisty and energetic pup was the first of Lunya's pack, originally bred to be a Garlean war wolf dog. Lunya saved her before they could do any damage to her personality and now she spends her day playfighting noisily with Buko.Chewy. His full name is apparently Cherrypit something-something-something, but Lunya doesn't actually remember what. He's afraid of everything.

Momo

Definitely a hamster. Lunya found Momo in Il Mheg. He's most definitely not a pixie irreversibly transfigured into a beaver. Literally no one except Lunya is convinced he's an actual hamster and no one can tell if she's genuinely oblivious to its unnatural nature or not.

Ube

Chocobo, lavender Belah'dian jennet. Lunya's Maelstrom-issued mount. Ube is basically a big, feathery puppy, loyally following Lunya wherever she goes (so long as there's gysahl greens for them). Enjoys long runs along the beach and kicking things.

Cethleann

Amaro. An Amaro gifted to Lunya by the Crystarium after the events of Shadowbringers. While very young by Amaro standards, Cethleann is large and strong enough to carry two riders—a dwarf Lalafell and a certain Exarch, for example. She's gentle and obedient and enjoys salad.

Leche Flan

Megashiba. When Lunya picked up this shiba pup from the streets of Kugane, she figured he would be much like Buko. What she didn't expect was for him to grow. And keep growing. And keep growing. Feeding Flan is somehow more of a challenge than feeding the thirteen other dogs running around...

Argos

Argos. Unable to bear the thought of her (admittingly unnerving) fluffy friend permanently sojourning on the moon for the rest of eternity, Lunya asked absolutely no one before she took Venat's old companion home with her. This was made possible only by Lunya's incredible excess of aether, and Argos will randomly materialize himself around the Lavender Beds for food or to scare her friends.

The Heavenly Canines

Literally all seven primal kamuys. People generally don't expect these dogs that are inconveniently on fire to pounce on them from the sky when coming to visit Lunya, but that's exactly what happens.

Io

Pegasus. Lunya saved Io as a filly after encountering the injured pegasus during an expedition in the Diadem, sparking a deep sense of trust from her. Lunya doesn't own Io, but she'll come if Lunya whistles for her out on Abalathia's Spine, and Lunya's the lone mortal Io allows on her back.

Belongings

Heavy Sketchbook: It's actually multiple sketchbooks bound together by red thread. It's where she keeps clothing designs and sketches of flowers and landscapes from the places she's been—she doesn't have the courage to actually try painting them. Also to note are many portraits: it seems she's recording the faces of everyone she meets, friend and foe alike. The first one is a Miqo'te man with strange tattoos on his neck...Miniature orchestrion: A tiny orchestrion crafted by Lunya's uncle Daks when she was just a child. It's one of her most precious possessions, and has been with her for over half her life.Old Jumbo Cactpot receipts: A reminder of her failures. It's humbling.Scarf: A Lalafellin staple. Plainsfolk and Dunesfolk alike traditionally wore scarves to create a signal that would help their small forms stand out both at sea and in the vast desert. Lunya's is knitted from high-quality fleece she spun herself, and it serves to keep her warm at night.Sewing kit: A meticulously maintained kit for travel. The sound of the clasp opening is enough to strike fear into certain friends.Snack pack: Slices of fruit boiled in sugar syrup until their water's been replaced with sugar, allowing them to be preserved for up to a year, and sundried slices of apples and mangoes.

Belongings

Butterly Norigae: This tasseled accessory was a gift to Lunya by her father, meant as a good luck charm. It's adorned with little butterfly charms and small flower-shaped cord knots, and additionally holds Lunya's soul crystals. It's become something of a fancified lanyard, holding her house keys, a gifted bell from the Seven Hundred and Seventy Seven, and a feather trinket gifted to her as a child by her father.Soul of the Astrologian: Mace Byrde's soul crystal, passed down to Lunya during their fateful encounter in the Black Shroud.Soul of the Dancer: Lunya originally had a soul crystal entrusted to her by Nashmeira of Troupe Falsiam, but she was gifted her mother's own dancer crystal before Stormblood. It's been passed down through generation after generation of dancers. The back is etched with the initials NM.Soul of the Weaver: An opalescent soul crystal Lunya was given by Redolant Rose to celebrate the successful launch of her first clothing line.

Armoury Chest

Any weapon can be a deadly one when placed in Lunya's hands, but naturally she has her favourites.

Canopus Lux
Lunya's anima weapon and her preferred starglobe.

Edenmorn Torquetum:

Atlas Awoken:

DANCER ARMS

Gyosei Kai: Chakrams gifted to Lunya by her mother, Lilina, upon learning that Lunya was practicing kriegstanz. They earned their names after Lunya's namazu, also named Gyosei, took a liking to the chakrams... as some bizarre hula hoop.

─✧─── tv tropes ───✧─

The Ace, Go-Getter Girl. There are very few things Lunya is bad at compared to what she excels in, and she's like that one girl you were classmates with in high school who had straight A's and was in six different after-school clubs that you kind of wanted to hate but couldn't because she was so nice.Action Fashionista. The only thing more powerful than Lunya is her wardrobe, and she will sometimes switch between her astrologian, black mage, and warrior attire in one single battle.Action Girl / Lady of War / One-Woman Army. Comes with the territory of being one of the Warriors of Light, of course.All-Loving Heroine / Friend to All Children. A trait carried from her days as Asteria. She also frequently uses her immunity to primal tempering as this, physically pulsing the Echo from her to shield anyone retreating from the battle.Beautiful Singing Voice. Can boast this thanks to her parents both being musically inclined.Blood Knight. She hates to admit it, but Lunya likes fighting, and is counted among «balefire»'s most bloodthirsty members.Boy Meets Girl. Lunya and Raha meet at the beginning of the Crystal Tower expedition and start to fall in love. Raha locks himself up in the tower, like an idiot, and they both think they're destined to never meet again. Five and three hundred years later, they're reunited. The Captain. She's a Captain for the Maelstrom. Though she was supposed to take on a squadron of her own after her promotion to Second Lieutenant, her duties as Warrior of Light interefered and to this day she still hasn't taken one.Child Prodigy. She caught onto mathematics from a very early age and could understand the complex geometries that create carbuncles when she was only five.

Naturally, that means that she'll run herself into the ground for just about anything, be it a boss fight to the death or finishing a project before a deadline.Does Not Like Spam. She hates bananas. Lunya practically lives to push her friends' buttons, teasing them for for everything between their obvious crushes to how they take their eggs. How hard she pushes you is a pretty good indicator of her affection for you, strangely enough. She always backs down when things start getting visibly uncomfortable, so «balefire» just takes it in stride. Seven and Heart both come very close in their persistence in pestering the others, but Lunya probably wears the "horrible bastard" crown for her ability to wear Zaya down in a single word.Glass Cannon. See Lunya's repertoire page. This is all she knows how to be. Don't let her tank. The blue in her job icon is just for aesthetic, she's actually a DPS when she picks up her axe.Graceful Ladies Like Purple. Her signature colour, and she definitely fits the category of a graceful lady.Green-Eyed Monster. Acknowledging it makes her sick, but Lunya's easily jealous and quick to envy others. A'dewah Tia probably got the worst of her judgement during the Crystal Tower expedition when she came to see him as competition for G'raha's affection, her self-worth spiralling down the drain with the belief that she didn't deserve love as much as someone so kind and gentle. She did get over it in the years following, at least, and now gladly can call A'dewah a friend. But even beyond relationship issues, Lunya still feels inferior compared to her sweeter and softer friends like Kotone and Illya...Heroes Love Dogs. She has fourteen, and her carbuncle and chocobo frankly behave like one enough to count. Just... don't tell her Miqo'te friends.Hot-blooded. Her temper's as short as she is.Huge Guy, Tiny Girl. With Raha, as long as you're only comparing them to each other. He's very short for a male Miqo'te.I Am A Monster. Carries this image of herself for more than half her life thanks to Susuna's conditioning of her as a child.Interrupted Declaration of Love. She never gets to answer G'raha's confession before the World of Darkness, and it's something she regrets all the way until the end of Shadowbringers.Kicking Ass in All Her Finery. Wears a very fancy violet dress during the liberation of Doma and Ala Mhigo, complete with a lot of golden jewelry. The Lost Lenore. G'raha was this for her for a while, though he was never dead but asleep and sealed away, with the odds of him waking up again within Lunya's lifetime being slim to none.

Like Mother, Like Daughter. Lunya's a strong echo of her mother, inheriting her grace and talent for dancing and even much of her body language. Unfortunately, she also got Lilina's wild, stubborn streak, and it's what caused the two to have a horrible fight before Lunya ran away from home. Significantly, Lilina, in her youth, also ran away from home—but for a very selfish reason instead.Locked Into Strangeness, Mystical White Hair. Her hair and freckles mutated from black after her surrogate grandfather saved her life during the Calamity.Long Hair is Feminine. As of Shadowbringers, her hair reaches her hips.Love Transcends Spacetime. Not many people can say that their soulmate literally fought the bounds of time and space to save their life.Mama Bear. To Ryne, and probably the most vocal about it of the set. Zaya may be Ryne's "might-as-well-sign-the-papers-and-make-it-legally-binding" mother, but don't underestimate Lunya's devotion to the girl. She's also this to her ward, Linnet, but to a lesser extent since Linnet is permanently rooted to the Lavender Beds estate and she doesn't have to worry about any stupid father-figures coming in to hand her a knife and some emotional development hindering trauma.Manipulative Bastard. She's not above roping people into doing things for her or saying something they had no intention to, and doesn't usually feel guilt over it if she feels it was worth the end result. She's a very "the ends justify the means" person.Muscles Are Meaningless. Look at the giant axe in her hands. Now look at her.Mixed Ancestry. Her mom is Cieldalaes Dunesfolk and her dad's Nagxian Plainsfolk. Lunya herself looks more like a typical Dunesfolk because of her glossy eyes. The Napoleon, Pint-Sized Powerhouse. Lunya's only 2'10" but she will kick your ass.Not So Stoic. Lunya did a very good job of keeping her emotions in check battle after battle after battle, the only time she really started to falter being after G'raha sealed the Crystal Tower. Come Shadowbringers and her mask all but falls apart in the wake of Thancred's mistreatment of little Minfilia, herself and her friends dying, and then the reveal that G'raha was planning to die for her. Asteria the Luminous

In the days of the Ancients, a woman named Asteria lived a rather mundane life as an ordinary masked citizen of Amaurot despite posessing an eccentric talent with creation magic and having determined a way to navigate the world through the stars. Having learned from an early age that even though the Convocation was interested, her peers didn't take kindly to how much she stood out among them, she retreated into herself and did little in the way of standing out after finishing her studies at Akadaemia Anyder.Nevertheless, she was someone cheerful and bright-eyed, and had a way of worming her way into the heart of others before they could even realize she had She often presented herself as well-mannered and docile in nature, though anyone who knew her would also know she possessed a mischievous and righteous streak. While she had the ability to divine the future, she did not and never would consider herself a "mage".Interestingly, Asteria is the name of the Traveler's student recorded in the halls of the Convocation, but she was born to her family as Lisuga.

Asteria's oldest friends were Hythlodaeus and Hades, who would later take on the seats of Chief of the Bureau of the Architect and Emet-Selch respectively. Though she herself was held in consideration for more than one position in Amaurot's Convocation thanks to her past achievements, Asteria held little desire to take on such a responsibility—up until she met Hemera, who held the seat of Azem.Fascinated by the Traveler's lifestyle and her ardent, stubborn beliefs, something awoke inside the woman who'd been hiding her brightness for years. With great stubbornness, Asteria took on the spot of Azem's student without so much as a "may I?" or a spot of paperwork, surprising just about everyone who knew her. She was both a boon and a bane to her dear mentor, and Hemera earned her loyalty so strongly that Asteria would follow to the very end of their days.It was on one of Asteria and Hemera's journeys that they met Endymion, a philosopher who was charmed by Asteria as fast as she was with him. Their romance was something out of a fairy tale and it was clear to anyone who met them that they were smitten with each other.

While Emet-Selch clung to the feelings of her affection for him, surrounding himself in his memories of her in their youth before they ever met Hemera or dreamed of joining the Convocation, in truth Asteria was always quite a nuisance to him and she was always eager to team up with Hythlodaeus to bother him when his own student, Atalanta, couldn't. Hythlodaeus cheerfully called her a "very friendly whirlwind," especially when she was with Endymion.

- Asteria was the Titan goddess of falling stars and nighttime divination who, while fleeing Zeus' advances, turned herself into a quail and threw herself into the sea, where she became the island of Delos (the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo). It's possible she's the same goddess as Brizo, who was known as the protector of sailors and fishermen.- Lisuga was the name of the gentle Visayan goddess of stars, and the daughter of the god of wind and the goddess of the sea. She was killed by her grandfather in his anger over her brothers' revolt against him, but when he found she was innocent he grieved deeply and had her turned into the stars. Visayan sailors prayed to her for guidance and protection through their voyages at sea.

Thank you for dropping by!I've been developing Lunya as a character since September 2017, and she's grown by leaps and bounds since then. A large bulk of her character growth can be credited to Shadowbringers, and subsequently FFXIVwrite2019, and then through the friendships I've formed in the FFXIV community that've given me much to build Lunya off from. Please remember that Lunya is a self-insert before she is truly an OC! She encompasses a lot of things I'd like to be and I project a lot of stuff on her, but she also has traits as her own character that don't necessarily align completely with mine. She also has a different body type than the default Lalafell model.I don't roleplay and I don't intend to get into it, but mutuals are more than welcome to form friendships (pre-established or otherwise) with her! You're also free to mention Lunya in your fics as you please, be it as a fellow Warrior of Light or a member of the Scions :3c
